new and nervous

Hello

As you have probably guest I have SA 8O I joined this site to relate to others who are also in a similar position as I am & maybe the same?

About myself... I'm an 18 yr old male living in New Zealand; along with SA I have been diagnosed with depression and OCD. I have had these conditions for a number of years and ended up leaving school because of them, which has really screwed up my education and future. My parents who were obviously worried about me tricked me into seeing a counselor which at the time pissed me off but did help me for a while. I was taking medication and everything seemed to be going well till I suffered a few set backs. Now I feel like I'm back at the beginning before I got better and no longer attend counseling or try to make any changes in my life... It seems I just don't care.

I should also mention that I have been suffering from same sex attraction since my early teenage years (although I can't be sure when it all began) which I never told my counselor about... and then I go from being an atheist literally saying such things as "there is no God" to becoming a Christian!

Is anyone else out there who can relate? It's confusing as any 1 of these problems would be hard enough to deal with but in addition I have them all swirling around my head :?

Thanks for taking the time to read through this

Hey, you do sometimes have to be patient before you get a reply because the forum can be slow during summer, just bump it up.

I don't really know what I can say to help though, I have sa and mild ocd. It must be difficult for you to be attracted to members of the same sex when you are a christian (although personally I don't think there's anything wrong with being attracted to the same sex so I can't really help with that). It's good you have a counsellor you can talk to.

Hope someone in a similar situation can give you some advice when they can.

All my advice would be is to try and deal with one thing at a time, try and make a list with the easiest to deal with to the hardest, because with so many things on your mind, I think it would be too difficult to deal with them all at the same time.

Everyone on here has Social Phobia I would take it but it effects people in different ways some blush some dont, some work, some cant, some can talk on the phones some cant what im trying to say is people can empathise with your social phobia but arnt always going through the same things you are. Give the site a go & I think you will find you can relate to different people on here in different ways. I know it can be frustrating not to get the answers you want right away but stick with us, we are all in the same boat

hugs 4 u xxxx

crazyfairyx - I'm sorry for being impatient but it's just really frustrating. I apologise.

Thanks Nadine333

Oh & what does "bump it up" mean?

That's cool, it can be quite frustrating. Bumping something up means posting a reply saying 'bump' so it goes further up the list so it's more likely to be read.
