"Never trust quiet people"...

No way would I want to do that. LOL. For starters, it requires them saying something to me and not the other way around. All I do is agree with them. So, I don't think it would work as far as punking anyone. Besides, it's actually not a fun situation for me, it's just a way to cope I suppose.

I know it's never fun and when it happens of course you would not want to make it a longer ordeal. Just thinking of ways for a retribution of sorts.

Well Molly does have a point, outsider. Why not have a joke at the expense of those who make jokes and snide remarks about you for a change?

In fact, I'm thinking I might buy myself one of these t-shirts: :giggle:

At least, these offensive/funny t-shirts are my way of retribution. And getting back at those who've made assumptions about me because I'm more of an introverted. Might as well as having fun with it, no? :idontknow:

I feel like this shirt would invite unnecessary confrontation. It's a passive aggressive tactic and my guess would be that people are likely to see it that way, which could lead to more outright confrontation. And then it also alienates those who hold nothing against you. Just my opinion.

I always thought it worked the opposite way. That if a man is quiet, he must be the "strong and silent" type. I guess it could be interpreted both ways.
I'm not ready to say that is the opinion I follow, it is just the one pushed on me in my past. It just depends on the person and never judge a book by its cover is what I believe.

I know what you mean and it's kind of along the lines of what I do when I agree with them to make them uncomfortable. But with me, it's more about being prepared with a response when it happens than retribution. Ideally, I'd prefer if they weren't so rude and just left quiet people alone. Of course, we all know that's not the way it goes.

Interesting idea but I also sort of agree with Miserum. It might provoke those who have nothing against you but you don't speak to. I'd prefer a shirt that says something along the lines of, "People Think I'm Shy...But They Haven't Met My Other Personalities".

IMO, something that pokes fun at yourself and actually makes light of others' misconceptions is probably better than something insulting which would give them a reason to dislike you.

You can be both an introvert and strong - they're not mutually exclusive. Not sure about introvert and assertive though.

whats even worse is when people come to the conclusion that you're quiet because you think you're better than them. its another one of those generic/stereotypical conclusions .

Well, I supposed it would probably be passive aggressive and alienate me. What with me being just over 5 feet tall, tattooed and bearded. But, if ye take that shirt at face value and get offended by it - kinda ironically proves the shirt's point, no? :idontknow:

Again, valid point. How about this shirt, then?

Haha, idk man. It kind of makes me think "What's wrong with that dude and why is his shirt so defensive?" It might put people off that barely know you is all I'm saying.

And the ones that do know and judge you for being quiet, they might think of it as a sackless attack against them and dislike you even more. Let's just say I'm not a huge fan of passive aggression. I guess I prefer more direct forms of addressing conflict. :shyness:

I suffered from this bias awfully over the last three months. I started a new job, one that required I live in the middle of nowhere with no one but my colleagues and boss. And because of my introverted nature they despised me :( the colleagues had a pre existing clique that I was not welcomed into. I would go down to meet them to start a shift and they would all be talking about how weird and unfriendly I was. They bitched about me with the boss who turned on me, screaming at me that I was a bitch who thought I was too good for anyone. I had to live in that woman's home, something I already felt uncomfortable with, and she screamed and my face and treated me with such venom. A good example of how she spoke to me, was this one instance where I saw her struggling with a job. I came over and said 'I find it easier when I do it like this' and showed her, she snatched it back off me and said ' I don't care what you do' and continued doing it her slow way. I refused to do some unpaid work because I was exhausted and they all shunned me for days.
They eventually came around, I made them laugh, they smiled when they saw me. They've tried friending me on Facebook. So if they'd given me the chance, they would have liked me. But they decided to make me miserable and alone. So I won't accept their friendship, they're just bad memories.
It's so sad. I felt so proud about myself, I got a job, in a new country, that required me living in a new place, completely isolated from anything I knew and loved. All scary things for us. And they sucked all that pride away, I'm back to feeling as low as ever.

In my experience, I find that stereotype (serial killer, etc) to be placed on men. Perhaps because more men are serial killers. As a quiet, very reserved female, I get from a lot of people after they get to know me that they thought I was a bitch. I don't mean to come off that way, but around new people I can't bring myself to talk.

So there is definitely a double standard. Quiet men are considered serial killers and quiet women are considered bitches...

I don't like this saying at all. It's judgemental and stereotypical. It makes me feel like a horrible person. Once when I was in high school, I was walking down the hallway. I was wearing my backpack. A girl said oh she's going to shoot up the school. Then she laughed at me. [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]
