Need some advice

I just ordered the Idromed PC machine, and expecting it delivered any day now :) . I am, however, concerned about the hardness of my water. From what I know, my area tends to have very soft water (south shore, long Island, NY). I have read that adding baking soda will tend to increase the hardness of the water. I've also heard that it increases the pain / discomfort associated w/ using the machine.
My question is: Since it is a PC machine (which im told is much more gentle), will adding baking soda cause less discomfort than the conventional direct current machine? Is there any other alternatives to making the water hard (besides adding anticholinergics- I don't want to do that)?
Also, I may be poking the bear, but I've also read the efficacy tends to be slightly less with puslitile currents, as opposed to direct current. Can anyone comment on that / give me some sort of reassurance, haha .

I'm originally from the south shore of Long Island... Wantagh, Bellmore, Farmingdale.

I didn't start my ionto treatment till well after moving out of state. First try out your treatment before jumping to conclusions about the water. Adding baking soda, salt never helped for me when using soft water. This June will be my 10th anniversary of doing ionto treatment.

I've done years of both direct and pulsed current. Pulsed current is way more comfortable and less painful. My Pulsed current machine is pretty high powered and works well even if the water is on the softer side.

Let's do a wait and see approach once you begin treatment.
