My niece is very anti-social

My pretty niece is very shy and it's worrying me a lot. I think she has a lot going for her but she's just so insecure and anxious about how she looks. I'm thinking maybe it's because of what she's been through when she was young. Parents always fought, dad was an addict (who died young).

I want to encourage her to do activities that will help her loosen up and improve on her self-image. Any ideas?

If she likes horses like I do/did get her to learn how to care and ride horses. It did wonders for my self esteem and helped me be less shy. Nothing cooler than being able to handle a 1500lb animal at age 8 :)

That's interesting Sacrament. My first thought was "he cares about her" now I think maybe he is a creeper like you say... :(

You want to know how I got these scars?
Hey, don't let me influence the way you think. For all I know, he's a great fella.

It's the state of the world for a man these days. People just have to perceive something even slightly wrong and they can destroy a mans life.

I'm sorry if you feel that way. I'm just truly concerned about her. I've been through what she's been through and I can't afford seeing someone else from family be the way I was. It's good that now there's online therapy and phone counseling because during my time, I had to go see a therapist face to face which was really hard for me.

By the way, her dad was my brother. I guess some people can be insensitive.

"My pretty niece" is, if you read further, exactly in context ("she's just so insecure and anxious about how she looks"). It's another way of saying "that although she's pretty, she feels ugly".
^ Yes. It makes perfect sense when read in context.
I have used my quota for the "thanks" button for today :eek:h: so here is my "Thanks" for your post, theslowesthand.

Does your niece like any sports? Could you offer to drive her to some particular sporting club that she could join, on the weekends, maybe?
Becoming really good at a sport might help her insecurities. :)
