I want to join the Air Force but i'm panicking because of facial hyperhidrosis. The recruiter explained that HH is not a disqualifier but the training is in texas and you can't take any medication with you. Anyone been through basic training with HH (specifically facial)? How was your experience?

Hey mmichel07, I dont have hyperhidrosis but I have been to boot camp. From my experience it was really hot there since I went in August and we spent a lot of time standing in formation outside under a shaded area silently reading our manuals on military protocols. Everyone is going to be sweating pretty hard so I dont think anyone will pay you any special attention. We were also all pretty scared and were not allowed to talk much so I dont remember a lot of conversation. I suppose if anyone asks you can just say how hot it is. The only person that was stressful was the Drill Sergeant as he will get in your face shouting if you do anything to draw too much attention to yourself. Its nothing personal though, they are pretty much like professional wrestlers and are putting on an act to discipline people. After we graduated they were really nice. I flew under the radar by keeping to myself and not trying to volunteer for any extra work lol.

I dont know much about hyperhidrosis but i think you should go for it. If not this is one of those things you would likely regreat not doing. Unless you have the $ to get a decent degree.
