Meditation

Hi All

I've suffered from social phobia for a number of years now, and thankfully over those years my symptoms have become less and less. I can now live a relatively normal life.

One of the self therapy methods I think has helped me the most is meditation. Meditation is reported to have many health benefits including reduction in anxiety.

Meditation is a relatively simply process, only has to be performed 10 minutes a day, and there are many books and websites available to help beginners. When I first tried meditation I found it very difficult to keep my mind focused, but after a while it becomes easier and easier.

I wondered if anyone else has tried meditation to reduce their anxiety with what results? For those that haven't I certainly think its worth a go.

I started meditating last winter, I found myself stressed and had a lot of anxiety for a few different reasons. It did help calm me down, although I no longer do it because I'm feeling better. I think because summer is just different for me. But anyway, there are many benefits to it and I recommend it! It took me a while to get the hang of it, but it's worth trying, to tell yourself to just stop and rest. There are medical benefits as well, if you keep up with it.

How long did it take for your guys to notice a difference and how long did you do it everyday?

it's not an instance fix, nothing is.

i meditate for just 10 minutes a day and over a few weeks and months I think that i have gradually become a less anxious in general.

For sure. Meditation works. I've done a bit of it in the past, it makes you feel great. I know I should do it I just don't, I should though. I'm gonna start... :D
