MACH system from MIT can coach those with social anxiety

Wow, that's really interesting. That would FREAK ME OUT. I mean, I see where they're going with it, but I'm not so sure it would be helpful for people with SA... not for me at least. I don't think I need to be "trained" to act appropriately in society. It's not that I don't know HOW. It's just that my anxiety prevents me from being able to function. Maybe this could help desensitize people with anxiety to the idea of having real life conversations/social interactions. But I'm not so sure it would translate at all to the real world... talking to a TV screen is a whole heck of a lot different than the real thing! Also I'm not a huge fan of the idea of being critiqued and scored on your facial expressions and inflections. That just seems a little much. Everybody has their own way of talking, and so what if it's not the absolute most socially acceptable way? We're not robots!

Anyway, thanks for sharing!! :)
