Lexapro causes blood clotting

Lexapro can cause blood clotting if you have a genetic predisposition to it. If you have the Factor Leiden V mutation, for example, then it is best to avoid it, since serotonin is involved in blood clotting. By increasing its presence, the tendency of platelets to aggregate is correspondingly increased. The same should apply to all SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors).
