Hi guys, I'm starting to get worried about job interviews in the future, as I'm reaching the end of my college life, i'm getting a little concerned about how my palmar hyperhidrosis might affect me at work. Does any of you have any tips as to immediately stop the seating for a couple hours so i can get through the interview normally? thx a lot guys, I'm so glad this forum exists, I can finally find people who understands how much it affects me psychologically and physically.

Do yourself a favour and simply explain your condition to them.

If you live in the states you're fine anyway, Hyperhidrosis is a registered disability and every civil organisation should come under some form of disability act - meaning they can't sack you for a disibility, so long as you tell them about it before hand.

If you live in the UK, hyperhidrosis is not registered as a disability, but simply explain the condition to your employer. I did, "I should mention as well that I have a medical condition, that causes my hands to sweat" - just make sure they know!

As far as interviews go, just act normally, tell them that you have a sweaty hand medical condition, and then go on with the interview as normal. Becides, most people have sweaty hands in an interview, if you give them a reason why yours sweat you'll probably look a little less nervous.

I dont see any reason why they should have to know you have this

the only time they would possibly notice during the interview is when you shake hands (usually at the start and at the end) and you know when your just about to shake hands so just wipe your hands on your trousers just before then should be fine

n even if they do feel youve got sweaty hands there not gona care as most people even without HH get clammy hands during interviews n sweat a bit

It depends on the severity of your condition.

Obviously if you feel your job is going to put you in a position where your hyperhidrosis could either A) cause you a lot of problems, or B) make you extremely anxious, then its always best to let the employer know. It depends how you deal with your condition yourself.

Shake hands and don't worry about it now. If the job causes you to have to explain it, maybe do it later AFTER you are hired. As someone else said in the post above, many people are sweaty when they go on interviews with or without HH. They wouldn't know the difference if you had it or not. No need to mention it. If you read my post under BOTOX, I just explained a way that I changed my hand shaking style a little and carried a few things with me on a recent business trip since I am waiting for my b-tox.

You don't have to mention that you have a condition. Everyone sweats during job interviews, so they won't think you're some sweaty freak. If you get the job and want to be sweat free for the first couple of days when you're being introduced to everyone and shaking their hands, try Robinul/Avert.

One technique you could try is to have a very cold bottle of water with you so it gives the impression that was what caused your hands to be damp. Than when they see you wipe your hands they think your just trying to be considerate.
