These past few days, I've been dad's assistant, picking up calls, taking papers to placers and that kinda stuff.

Knowing how terribly, TERRIBLY shy I am, having me as an assistant is, in-itself a terrible idea, but regardless, I gotta help.

So I went with him to check if the insurances from dad's patients (he's a surgeon), and the ladies in the insurance office where these... two pretty women, and I got horribly, HORRIBLY shy.

The correct way to greet a woman in Mexico is to kiss her cheek.

... Aaand I didn't. I stood far, I stuttered a bit and was borderline hiding against a wall.

I should add: my skin is pretty white, so when I blush... I go from "regular-pale-joe" to Tomato-Red...

... Ugh, I feel so stupid. And I feel like I didn't knew how to keep my manners. That may sound foolish, but I try my hardest to be a gentleman in every sense in the word.

And then in the way back to his office/consultory, dad "called me out" (or rather, just commented) on me, that I'm always too avoidant, and not only on women but in men too, I almost never look at the eyes and don't say much or anything...

....

Gaaaah ;_;

I know how you feel! Although, I don't work for my dad or even have a job, anytime that I interact with males I don't know well I turn bright red. I'm really pale too. Although it isn't custom to greet in that way here in the U.S., when I go to a job interview or something you shake hands and my hands are always so sweaty & I know that I'm probably bright red too. & then the thought of me being bright red in the face makes me turn bright red! Ugh, it never ends!

Yep. I'm pale too, and become a tomato. And it gets worse when I think about how obvious my blushing is, and so on and so on. Ugh.

Klonoa, you did all that stuff, and it was difficult, but--you did it.

We tend to compare ourselves to how people act who don't have social anxiety, and beat ourselves up for not being as smooth as they.

This is neither accurate nor fair. It's like someone with broken bones in their feet looking around and feeling bad because they can't run and walk as easily as everyone who isn't injured.

Don't know why you feel awkward around males. If your avatar is anything to go by you look absolutely beautiful

Me too! I become awkward around attractive people, especially guys, and some of them think I'm attracted to them, which is embarassing. I try to look pale as a ghost but this only stiffens me more.

I think everyone here has their share of embarrassing moments sparked by social anxiety. In the end, you just have to learn to laugh about it. It happened, not much else you can do about it.

Just try to keep in mind that noone will remember it by the next day. Don't let it get to you, learning to "let go" of such little details is very important in order to get over SA.
