Hi :). This is my first post, although I've spent a fair amount of time on this forum and others like it. I have social anxiety, and have had it for as long as I can remember.

I've also suffered from hyperhidrosis and acne since I was about 12 (I'm 23 now). I'm wondering if they are related. I haven't tried using any medications to treat either condition, as I'm afraid of side effects. I'm interested in curing it naturally, if possible.

I found an interesting website about a person that experimented with his diet and other things to improve his overall health (http://healthoid.com/regimen). Originally, I looked at the site because he claimed to have cured his severe acne. I was surprised to find that he also talked about "vastly" reducing his hyperhidrosis and anxiety (http://healthoid.com/accomplishments).

Any thoughts?

Hmm...

I don't think they are related from my own experience. I have had pretty bad HH (started with moderate palmoplantar first, now pretty heavy general HH unfortunately) for let's say 10 years approximately in my perception (currently 22), but haven't had much problems with acne, luckily.

Just the occasional pimple, but never so much that I worried about it and definitely no scarring due to acne. I must say though that I still get pimples now and then on my face that seem a little out of place since I'm 22. But like I said, no real problems. Not that it would affect my life so much since the HH pretty much ruines a lot of social oppertunities anyway.

In a way I would almost say that it's almost a benefit that people have some kind of reason where they can assign your not always socializing behaviour to, so that they don't get al kinds of crazy ideas about your personality. But of course that's just the crazy implications of HH speaking.

I can testify from personal experience that the acne medication known as Accutane is, in fact, a cure for acne. It gets rid of it over the course of about 6 months or so, and it doesn't come back. You could have some nasty side effects if you play sports though (my joints started to hurt almost like I had arthritis) but that goes away when you finish the medication. And it's worth it. Remember, acne can leave scars for the rest of your life. There really is no reason to suffer from acne if you have the means to get rid of it.
As for sweating, as far as I know, the only true cure for it is surgery.

accutance is a heavy drug though; lots of side effects. i used accutane and could only handle it for about 3 months. i don't recommend it.

i don't suffer from sweating but i do suffer from acne. i have it under control with over the counter treatment. i have to be strict about the treatment or my breakouts come back, but this helps so much. this is what i do:

i do this once in the morning and once at night:
- wash face with neutrogena oil-free acne wash cream cleanser with wash cloth, gently pat dry with towel
- apply large amount of neutrogena on the spot treatment to wherever you get the acne (it's a spot treatment but i use it on my face like a lotion)

i've tried a ton of things and this is the ONLY thing i have ever found to rid me of acne. i found out about this on acne.org but i don't use moisturizer because my face is oily enough without it.

I was about to start a similar thread regarding acne as really doing me head in and nothing seems to work in clearing it

I think its related! (or can be for some)
I had totally clear skin till I got HH when I was 20 (Im now 24) so for me it brought it on it seems and nothing seems to work in ridding of it...have lots of small scars now and on top of hh makes ya feel pretty shite

Old posting, yet always relative.

I had both acne and HH in my early years. I'm sure they aren't related. Acne definitely was inherited. If HH was inherited, that particular family member must have hid it really well.
