How important is SPW in your life?

PugofCrydee

You want to know how I got these scars?
I acknowledge SPW can be a double edged sword.

We as SA sufferers do need an outlet, a place where we can talk to others with the same affliction.
But it can also have a negative impact on our condition.

For me, it's a very important outlet, outweighing the negative aspects.
I NEED to reach out and know there are others dealing with similar struggles to mine. In a lot of ways it keeps me from going over the edge.

I actually find strength knowing others are dealing with similar stuff.

Do you see SPW as a positive or negative in your life and why?

Depends on the posts I see. Negative posts will have a negative influence on you because they'll make you feel like there's no getting better, that anxiety will just drive you insane and leave you stranded on a desert island somewhere in your own mind.

Positive posts are good not only because they are positive, but also because they can offer a new perspective with the potential to help you see things differently (in a good way).

As an outlet, I'm sure it's helped tons of people, myself included.

It's very important for my emotional health, i believe, as otherwise i would feel completely alone most of the time. It helps to compensate for the fact i have no life at all. It helps me to keep going through the daily torture. I like reading the truth, whether it's positive or negative it doesn't matter to me - it's all good.

I find it important, to be able to vent to people who understand, to see what helps other people deal with their mental health struggles. Just to be around like minded people really helps.

Even when I dont actually post and Im just in my lurking moods, its a comfort to be amongst people who understand

^ Same here. And, y'know, you lot actually get what it's like to struggle with anxiety and/or depression. Whereas my family think I'm just faking it. :eek:mg:

not actually Fiona Apple
SPW has had a major effect on my life, for a time I would go as far to say that it was my life. In pushing my boundaries, trying new things, meeting new people, and all that other coming-to-age stuff, SPW had a definite hand in all of it.

I would not say that is the role it plays in my life anymore though. I don't know quite how to word what I want to say, but roughly the importance of SPW to my life now is on those days when I feel particularly broken, I have a place to not be alone, and to potentially share my feelings, even if I usually don't. It's like having a friend who is willing to listen, even when you don't want to talk about what's on your mind. Just knowing they are there helps.

It's been good, I have met some really great people on here. It was a more bustling site when I first joined. It is a positive right now, but not as big a part of my life as when I first joined.

SPW has been quite important for me. It made me feel less different knowing more people are struggling with the same issues. And i like how everyone tries to support and motivate eachother. I've met some really nice people on here. Indirectly even my girlfriend :)

I've been here 16 years now. I still read a lot of the posts. I'm in a way better place than I was back then. From time to time I try to give a bit of advice, I think we all eventually find our own way though.

Hi, everyone. Well, I haven't been on this site for years and decided to log on today. After reading some posts, I decided to make my own for the very first time. I honestly hope that this is the beginning of making more of an effort to include SPW in my life.

I've only joined recently, but I sure did learn a lot about social anxiety here. And I also got some good advice. I think I should voice a particular thanks to the user Graeme1988, who included a link to a youtube channel(in one of his posts in a thread), which helped me out a lot.

And I also get the occasional comfort from knowing that there's many others here, who have anxiety-related problems. So SPW is something that's new to me, but also has been very helpful.

Very important although it is dead at night time but it's so much more simpler than the other forum and I like the last messages at the top.

i like spw but it has to be fixed somehow by the administator or something and it's really important b/c it's a support forum and a nice 1! cyber attackers really need to be prevented from ruining this forum we need a secure site

lucky you but at least some of us have and that's important
The advertisements are getting worse too. Ads are taking up my entire phone screen now when I click on a thread title, not all of the time but every now and then. I click out of them but it's annoying.
