Cured is in quotes because panic attacks are never really cured - but if you learn to worsen their affects, the impact on your normal-extreme activities to have a panic attack are of no problem.

Please know this, I write this for the hope that someone reads it and finds their “cure”.

At the age of 25 I was diagnosed with severe agoraphobia and panic attacks. After 5 years of the disease (it began at age 20) I sought care from psychiatrist and physiologist.

I studied cognitive behavioral therapy with one doctor and was prescribed medication for lexapro (10mg) and klonopin (1mg twice daily).

When I felt I was taking a big leap out into panic attack land, I would take more klonopin the night prior and take a couple extra in the morning. This was not advised, but I did and now try to use as little klonopin mg per day as possible.

The Cognitive Behavior Therapy was not easy. I believe any strong person can do something about their disease will find huge success in this method. It’s a game changer but takes a lot of work.

The process was complicated and took about almost a year – seeing the CBT once a month or once every 3 months. In theory it came down to realizing every situation was escapable if I wanted to.

I gave into the panic attacks. I truly gave up, and it worked.

So, that’s what a year of therapy came down to, retraining how my mind perceived certain situations.

All the steps and homework should be done that the CBT-ist should be giving you. If they are not giving you work to do, then you need a new therapist, period.

From scared of being in the same car as someone to being in a boat after crossing Tijuana, Mexico to catch a flight directly to a 6 straight days on the water in the boat, 100 miles off the coast for a fishing area living with 9 people...on the boat.

I’ve done more than I thought I would accomplish prior to panick attack initial onset at age 20.

Because panic attacks forced me inside and I was afraid of financial concern I started an online business. It made me many millions of dollars, although I still would trade it in for the 6 years I lost.

I wasted 6 years on that disease and I hope this finds someone help, if comfort nonetheless.

Please excuse typos and nonsense, I enduldged in some ganja which coincidently gives other attacks.

Take Care.

Yeah I am on both lexapro and klonopin as well. I always cheat when I try to go outside and take double/triple the dosage. I am glad you were able to make a success of your life.
