I worked in finance for year before my agoraphobia kicked in 3/4 years ago....took about a year to work out what I could do to get a income, and was one of the worst aspects of the agoraphobia.

Now I work from home, running my own small business that make circuit boards (mainly for guitar effects peddles) its totally random, and something I would have never thought of before but has turned into a good income.

(took a year or so of random things, like importing clothing and selling on ebay, till I found the right business for me, but its can be done, I had a start up of £100)

I'm going to school to be a teacher or a college professor. Do you have anxiety when you talk to little kids? Not likely... talking to little kids is entirely different then talking to your peers... BUT.... if all else fails... online schools are on the rise!!! I could just teach online classes! you should consider it. If your anxiety is overwhelming to the point where you can't even go to class.... take online classes! Seriously!!!

Currently a member of Management at Restaurant, but going to start my own computer repair business here shortly. As of Monday in fact, if all the cards all into place and going to be doing this part time unless it really takes off.

I live with my parents. I wish I studied something that could have allowed me to work at home. Money is a huge issue now. I'm baffled as to what to do.

Just try online work. I've created a thread a long time ago, I think it's called "Online work" or something like that. Anyway, sites like Helium, Triond, Hubpages, Youtube... etc can earn you some passive income. There are also sites that involve surveys and such. Those are also good, but you've to separate the genuine ones from the scams. Cash gifting, forex, online MLMs are very risky in my experience as is speculating on the stock markets. Getting fixed returns on bonds or some solid stocks are good though you'll have to know what you're doing.

You can also try setting up your own website/blog and try to earn via things like Google Adsense. There's also a sticky thread on this site under the support forum which deals with these kind of issues as well as academic help for students. It's currently not populated, but I expect this to change in the future so you may want to check up on it from time to time.

There's also the possibility of doing ebooks, affiliates... etc. Odesk offers direct onlinee work though you'll have to compete with lots of others. Lots of ways to earn on the net, but you'll have to be wary of scams.

Hope that helps.

studying which is a living hell and working at a big store (usually unsupervised.. which makes me happy) i aint afraid of customer talk because all they do is ask what is where without efforts of a conversation. works well with me

Im a computer network technician. I like computers better than people because if somthing goes wrong, its because i screwed it up, not because it doesnt like me for who I am.

I work in an office and manage a number of user's remotely, so yes i have to deal with alot of phone calls but i dont have to see many people personally. My boss is on the other side of the country, lol.

I work in retail. I was so scared at first but the customers very quickly became just customers. Like they aren't even human, just some other species called Customers which is good.

I guess I missed this one.
I consider my self a Field Tech. Not one for offices. I drive to clients' places. But these days remote work is becoming more the norm.

Hi everyone. Glad i joined. I've been at home for 3 and half years now with agoraphobia and have been trying for 2 years to make a business online. I've made about $1,000 in all that time and that was for private web design work and reports.

Not recommended. I have not been able to make a consistent income, so if anyone knows how, please shoot. Reckon you need at least $5K to start to get lots of affiliate and adsense websites running (analysis and outsourcing) and even then it will take a good 6months to a year to see a few hundred dollars. Easier if you already know a market you can make money in and have good SEO/PPC etc skills.

cheers

I'm a writer and a musician. I work from home 90% of the time. It's how I manage to stay pale while living in Arizona. Pretty neat.
