every doctor i've seen so far have straight up told me they wont give me benzos because theyre addictive but i dont have an addictive personality i'm just looking for something to help me relax when i go to social events like wedding..etc cuz i dont like drinking i hate alcohol....so if i find another doctor what should i say or how should i say it so maybe they can give me something that works for emergency attacks.. cuz my old doc put me on prozac and the past one before put me on effexor but none worked cuz i am not depressed! i just get major social anxiety attacks only when in social situations! CBT hasnt helped me either ....maybe if i go see a psychiatrist? do they prescribe meds like benzos?

No offense, but after reading your post I would rather convince you to not take any benzos. You don't control an addiction if it change the chemistry in your brain and i'm pretty sure that it does.

Hi,

every doctor i've seen so far have straight up told me they wont give me benzos because theyre addictive but i dont have an addictive personality i'm just looking for something to help me relax when i go to social events like wedding..etc cuz i dont like drinking i hate alcohol....

Well, it's the Doctors opinion about whether to prescribe Benzodiazepines or not.
Doctors' duty is to diagnose, treat, and if necessary prescribe medications.

so if i find another doctor what should i say or how should i say it so maybe they can give me something that works for emergency attacks

Well, honestly, I can not comment on this one.
If the Doctor diagnoses you as having anxiety, or Specific ( Social Phobia), you just have to honestly tell him so, once you are in his practice room.

cuz my old doc put me on prozac and the past one before put me on effexor but none worked cuz i am not depressed

As to me , I got the experience back, in 2003.
As I went to my Psychiatrist, he gave me sample packs, enough to last for 2 months.
It was Lovan. It is Generic name of Prozac ( Fluoxetine)
I told him, that in the past, in about end of 1993, where my parents brought me to see a Psychiatrist, I was given Prozac and Clonazepam 0.5mg.

And I found, as for my case, ( everyone is different), I kept pacing around, making me more anxious after a week or so.

So I told this new Psychiatrist about that.
Also I told him that my mum, did not want me to take additional medication, as I had already taking Antipsychotics, Cogentin from him.

But he insisted.
Honestly, he smiled and said to me to just put all the sampe packs to my pockets, as I was wearing a jacket-kind-made from cotton, and had several pockets in it.

By the time I took it, I still remember, as the next day I was asked to drive a mini bus and went to a place for Church-kind of Retreat, I was trembling even more.
So I thought, It was just a coincident, and the next day I took again, I still remember how my whole body was a bit like trembling.

When I remember this, I wouldn't want to take Prozac anymore.

I just get major social anxiety attacks only when in social situations! CBT hasnt helped me either ....maybe if i go see a psychiatrist? do they prescribe meds like benzos

I am seeing a Psychiatrist now.
And with my symptom, he willingly prescribe Clonazepam 2mg to be taken daily, till the rest of my life.

I hope this info is useful.

Kind Regards,

It doesn't matter if you have an "addictive personality", benzo's alter your brain chemistry and you become physically and nuerologically addicted to the drug. My brother was able to stop smoking cold turkey, but become addicted to clonazepam after a couple of months. Took him a long to ween off the drug to avoid some severe withdrawal effects (really bad body and head aches, super irritability, couldn't sleep).
