Yes, I can relate to this. I find it too exhausting to follow the flow of conversation with people and my mind often wanders even when it's something important like a job interview or watching TV. :|

I was the same way, didn't understand how to converse or make jokes to socialize with others. It took a lot of practice, lots of watching comedy tv, and some help from drugs but I think I am finally able to socialize. My only problem with socializing lies with anxiety now.

I have the exact same problem. I'm diagnosed with Asperger's, by the way.

If in a crowd of people I am the guy alone. I pay attention to some conversations, just generally not the one if someone is speaking to me. Did that make sense? Speaking to me, I don't care. But I can sit and "overhear" a conversation elsewhere fine. I also can't help but watch peoples movements and body language.

Sometimes.

I used to watch my own, especially if I was in a position of being center of attention, just because I was self conscious. Lately I have been studying covert persuasion and hypnosis and attempting to modify my body language as a mean to subconsciously emphasis my point.

Typically though I just watch and listen to other people.

and people are weird! ::p:
