Hello everyone! (Newbie)

Hey, I stumbled across this site a few days ago and it didn't took me long to decide that I wanted to join you all. (This forum seems so great! You are all so nice and supportive.) I'm 19 soon to be 20, and live in Germany. I've never been diagnosed with SA but from what I've read it seems to fit. Currently, I am looking for a therapist, because I'm having panick attacks at night. Well...what else can I say about myself? I love reading fantasy, listening to music, painting and I dance (standard&latin). And I love GOT (or rather generally watching series). I hope I can talk to people who have similar problems and make new friends.

Hello Hannalein and welcome. :greeting:

Have you already read all the GoT books? I found them far superior to what I've seen of the TV show, though they did start to trail off in quality with the last two and the TV show probably has a much better chance of actually being finished.

Hallo und wilkommen (ich nein wiet if ich sprach korrekt)

I'm sure you'll have a great time out here.

I like reading too, but only foreign language books and electrical engineering stuff. Fantasy and novels bore me to death :( .

Hey Nate :)
I've read the first book but sadly after I've seen the first two seasons. So I basically spoiled it for myself and I couldn't bring myself to read those other 4 books, because I already knew what would happen. The solution for me is to watch the series and to read background information and theories online (I love those theories). If I hadn't spoiled it for myself I would totally read the books, but maybe I am going to do it in a couple of years, when I 've forgotten a few things.
And you are so right. I can't see Martin finish the books in the next decade :-D
Thanks for the welcome :-*

Bonjour Jungle,
you are from North Africa, right? So I guess your language is French.
Je suis terrible en français.
When I was on vacation, I tried to order in French. It didn't took long and the waiter changed to English. It must have been really bad - I was in Lyon (France) :-D

Like you, I read mostly not in my mother language. I like it that I can read to relax and improve my language skills. In what languages are you reading? I settled for English (I also tried French..but like you maybe can imagine...it did not go that well :-D )
Well, electrical engineering would bore me to death, but I envy you. You like to read something useful. But I love my fantasy books, maybe if you read the right books you would like fantasy too. There are a lot of fantasy books out there that are completly bullsh... Not of high quality.

Thanks for welcoming me :-*

Quelle surprise que tu saches parler français!
What you wrote in french was flawless, many people would have just put "c" instead of "ç" , clearly you speak French better than I speak German.

You are correct, French is my mother tongue.

Traveling to another country makes it a hell lot easier to learn their language, you should do it more often. I don't know many Germans who speak french, on the other hand, I know many Frenchmen who do speak German.

I am reading most of my books in English, and some of them in Russian.
French is hard for foreigners when it comes to conjugation, I give you that.

I've read Harry potter 6 when I was 14, if that counts as Fantasy, but never finished the book.
Also played world of warcraft at a time, but got annoyed by the community.

:) You're welcome (no pun intended)

Oh hey, welcome! It still amazes me how well people from all over the world speaks English. I like reading too but more Urban Fantasy. I like the idea of magical things hiding in plain sight around regular people.

Thanks PugofCrydee & Megaten :)

And yes, Urban Fantasy is great. But the last few books I've read were a little too predictable for me. Maybe you can recommend something for me. :)

Well, I know many Germans who speak French (and that a lot better than me :) )
And you are right, travelling helps (except that time I told you about, after that I wasn't confident enough to speak French again). Currently, I'm trying to learn a little Spanish, because I'm visiting a friend in Bolivia (she is there because of a voluntary social year).
I hope that when I come back I can set another language on my list of "half learned things". :-D

Wow Russian. Have you learned it in school or self-educated? And oh man, you have to give Harry Potter another try! It's great.

À plus :)

Spanish is spoken in many countries, learning it could benefit you a lot, especially with your C.V..

Spanish is also part of my half learned things sadly, I like to butcher it

I learned Russian by myself. I thought that knowing a language from each linguistic family could help you roughly understand the languages that ressemble it.

What annoyed me in that Harry Potter is that they dwell too much on the details, I don't have the patience to beat around the bushes.

I like k pop, k hip pop, k r & b, rap, r & b, and pop. Lately I haven't been listening to rap, pop, and r & b though. All those bands are alternative? I don't really listen to newer songs but I recommend you k pop, k hip pop, and k r & b. You want specific songs or no?
