Having troubles with concentration when nervous.

I am not sure if everyone can relate to this but I have troubles concentrating when I am around people. When I say concentration basically I can’t comprehend as well as I should. I have known this for a long time but the reason for the issue now is, I will be attending university soon and although it wont be a full on coarse it is something I will have to attend if I want to go to university. I could do it from home but I am worried if I don’t attend this coarse I wont be able to prove to myself I can do it. I am very concerned as the course description says the course will involve a high degree of interaction and brainstorming amongst participants. I am not sure if I am doing the right thing by putting myself in a situation where I am having discussions with people about things I am unable to understand at the time. I know I could do this kind of thing from home in my comfort zone but I don’t know what to do. Should I do the same course from home or go in and be a lamb to the slaughter? Some advice and suggestions would be much appreciated. :?

I know how you feel. I am suffering badly from anxiety and i can't focus on anything. Do you get rushing thoughts around your mind?

Yeah, when I am in a situation like a class room environment my main anxious triggering thoughts are talking out loud and not getting the answer right, also my voice sounding funny. Sometimes people can’t hear me when I talk and I worry if I’ll have to repeat myself.
