Have you let go of the past?

Sometimes I have trouble letting go of the past. I made so many mistakes that got me to where I am today. Recent mistakes are especially hard to let go of. I know it's not good, and I know I should forget the past, but I still beat myself up sometimes over it. I think about what could've been if I had done better. It gets me depressed and angry at myself. The only benefit it has had is that the pain and frustration is so great that it motivates me to change my future. Anyone else have trouble letting go of the past? How do you deal with it?

I have a lot of trouble letting go of the past--good and bad (I obsess about things I should have done differently and try to focus on positive events that have past, as though I can hold onto them). I've noticed that over time, the effect of some stuff just isn't as strong (simply because of the passage of time). I look back and realize how much time I have wasted and I regret it, but I know I can't change the past, but I can take steps in the present to affect the future.

I try my best to make peace with what I've done or haven't done. My biggest concern is not making up for lost time. Everything else is wasting time.

Yes I do have trouble letting go of the past & it can be crippling
like finding a long life partner on thinking about someone I had a crush on
& never letting go & missing out on other perspective partners on love &
understanding which could've been staring me in the face & not having the
confidence to bettering myself on career opportunaties.

It's been hard for me to let go of how shy I used to be. Now, I'm aware of what people might think when I branch out and open up. It's like them knowing how I was effects what I do now.
