Glyco/rubinol/avert

I'm very aware that I don't want to paint it as a miracle cure - but - I want to tell my story.

I have suffered from very bad generalised HH since puberty. Cranio-facial, trunk, armpits, back, chest, stomach - probably legs has been the only part that hasn't been affected.

I have spent the last 10 years of my life avoiding any physical contact with anyone because I know I was sweaty. I went to pubs that I knew had hand driers so I could dry the sweat patches.

I read tales from people here who talk about the most horrific side effects. I'm no doctor, and I would never want to give anyone else false hope or talk of a miracle cure. However, without hyperbole, I can safely say that Rubinol or whatever you call it changed my life.

I live in the UK (London) and have had to order it in, but it has completely and utterly changed the way I sweat. I am now able to lead something approaching a normal life.

I'm not saying this to gloat, or to suggest that glyco is everyone's answer, but I want to say that if there is anyone suffering thinking that there is no solution - so did I - and there was.

I'm rambling.

Congrats on finding something that works! Everyone eventually finds something that works for them. For me, it was iontophoresis. I have facial/hands/feet/armpits sweating, and just using ionto to dry my hands helped a great deal. As oral treatment I only tried ditropan which really has bad side effects and affects you psychologically. Maybe Avert/Rubinol/Glyco would've worked for me, but sadly we don't have it here in Lebanon. Grats again pal, I know how debilitating hh can be. But nothing feels as great as finding a treatment and being dry at last.

wordy,

How did you order it? Via the health care system or did you order some stuff online?

I ordered from pharmacy.ca. Came very quickly. Pricey, but I'd happily pay double what it costs.

Hi mate,

Good on you for posting. I think any hope is good hope. Just wanted to know how severe your HH is in terms of say moist, wet, dripping etc or low, moderate, high, extreme etc?

Also what dosage do you take and how often? How long do you find it lasts for?

I'm curious as I'm going to speak my GP about certain medications for my HH as summer is here. I'm thinking Robinul will be a wise investment for the warmer months.

Also, with pharmacy.ca, was it easy to order? How long did it take to arrive?

I agree with Wordy.

I've been taking Avert for a week and my compensatory sweating is much better. I'm really excited about it.

Wordy--Welcome!

I can remember being madly flamed when I wrote that Avert had changed my life. It did though, and a few years later it still works wonders. I had bad cranio-facial HH, so very visible and embarrassing. I've had no ill effects--sometimes dry mouth but who cares.
Others find relief in other ways--as long as SOMETHING works!
