Getting used to making people nervous?

I always make people nervous and this makes me very anxious and lowers my self-esteem. How can I learn not to care about people getting nervous around me? I will always make people nervous, since I'm a freak, but why can't I just accept it and go on living? How can I let this destroy my life?

I am always concerned that I am making people uncomfortable because I am so awkward, but I have a very close friend who is often with me in social situations and I talk to him when we are alone and I ask him if I was too awkward, if I made people uncomfortable, and by now he is sick of me asking that, but he always tells me that I am not making anyone uncomfortable. He says I'm not really that awkward, I just think I am. He says he just wishes I could believe that.

He says I am projecting my own discomfort onto others, he says I am not making anyone uncomfortable because nobody is paying that much attention to me. With SA, we think all eyes are on us all the time and that we have such a negative impact on those around us, when maybe it's not true at all. Maybe nobody notices. I mean they notice we're shy or we're quiet, but maybe they don't think anything else about it.

I completly agree with your friend. We projects positive and negative feelings in people around. The way you feel come back to you.
I wish you´ll feel better

I kind of feel the opposite...When I'm with people, I am always the one who is nervous. They always seem so calm and carefree.
