Is it possible to be fully recovered?? I'm starting to think that I will never be the guy I was before. And these agoraphobic thoughts and sensations will follow me the rest of my life :\

Is there anyone here that considering him/herself "fully recovered"? That can tell me how it really is?

I've been agoraphobic for about 8 years now. I can come and go from my house. I go to grad school and have two jobs. I'm sorry to say that I don't think you truly ever recover. Its like being an alcoholic.. its always there lingering in the back of your mind. If I have a long break from work or school and linger around the house to long, I begin to get anxious about going out again. When I DO experience this I try to stay out and about as much as possible.

As long as you just stay on top of it, you should be fine.

I don't have agoraphobic thoughts everyday..just when I stay at home too long.

Hope this helps. You can message me if you want too :)

I agree with mismeek.

I am nowadays a completely functioning agoraphobe. I go to college and lead a social life. I actually attended a wedding this weekend:eek: Im nothing like the shell I was before. Nothing.I keep a diary on this site 'diary of a closet agoraphobe' in 'personal stories' where Ive tracked my progress. Sometimes I do have relapsey days but overall theres no comparison. Im very happy. feel free to pm me anytime.
