Drexel University is conducting a research study that offers a non-medication, online self-help treatment program for adults (ages 18-65) suffering from social anxiety disorder. To participate, you must have the ability to speak and read fluent English, and have access to a computer with an Internet connection and a webcamera. The program is online and does not require for you to come to the clinic. The program consists of video lectures with quizzes and lasts eight weeks. In addition, you will also speak to a therapist once a week. The treatment program is offered without charge to the participants.

Drexel is a legitimate University. That being said, they should be using a university email address and not a gmail account. If you volunteer, do a little research and make sure it's connected to the University and not some loose affiliation.

The website says that only those living in the United States are eligible. The thread did not mention that. Perhaps someone should send the university an email asking whether this is legitimate.

I emailed the Psychology Department at Drexel University, using the email address appearing
on the official website, and have been told that this course IS legitimate.

The website states that only American residents are eligible, but I was also told that overseas applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Hi all,

Thank you for your interest in our study!

I just wanted to follow up and provide some clarification.

The study is new and Drexel's website was just recently updated. Here's the link: Internet Self Help Treatment Program for Social Anxiety | Department of Psychology | Drexel University

As of right now, we are only recruiting from: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, South Dakota, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. We are also considering international participants on a case by case basis.

Let us know if you have any questions.
