Serafina, you are one sick girl.

I've had Balut - almost puked.

I prefer my octopus cooked just a bit.

::p: You don't like your food to be semi -alive, coyote? Where is your sense of adventure?

I had this other dish in the Philippines.

It was some sort of rice and chicken served on banana leaves - very yummy!

I got 'most all the way through it before I found the giant live slugs under the banana leaves!

I'm not sure if that was part of the dish or just an accident.

I did not finish the rest.

It took plenty of Red Horse to wash it down.

I have to remember to skip page 9 altogether. lol

I don't eat anything that is cute or arouses my ick factor. I also eat things that no longer look like anything alive meatwise.

Lemon-Berry Cheesecake

Ingredients:

1 graham cracker pie crust (store bought or home-made)
1 cup silken tofu
1 cup strawberries, fresh or thawed frozen
1/2 cup mixed berries (I used blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries)
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons lemon extract
2 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a food processor, combine silken tofu, mixed berries and strawberries. Process until smooth. You’ll probably have to scrape down the sides a few times to make sure everything is combined.

2. Add constarch and lemon extract, then blend until smooth. Then pour in the sugar and (for the last time, I promise) combine until smooth.

3. Pour the tofu/berry mixture into the pie crust. Put the pie into the heated oven and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the middle. Chill for at least 5 hours, then slice and serve! Feel free to garnish with whipped cream.

Source of recipe: I was experimenting with different ways to use silken tofu and this yummy recipe somehow came out of all the kitchen chaos.

Makes: 8 Slices, Preparation time: 10 minutes, Cooking time: 1 hour and 10 minutes

Thanks. I'll have to copy it down. Wonder if I can use stevia/xylitol for sugar.

oh man that's the fruit mentioned in Final Fantasy IX and made one of the characters pass out from eating it too fast and he mentioned the horrible stench lol. But he said it was delicious.

I must try this fruit now.
