From what I read on this forum, everyone seems to have different results with SSRIs. I have heard positive and negative stories. I can't provide any personal insight, because I have never tried any of them.

I was on it for about 2 weeks and ended up in the ER because it made my anxiety so bad and I wasn't eating. I was on it when I was younger, though and it was okay. It's really just the person and the timing I think.

Fluoxetine (prozac) is an antidepressant that is not approved for SA/SP, however given it works in a similar way to the other SSRIs that are approved for SA/SP it may be worth a go. I would personally consider using Zoloft, Paxil and Effexor-XR before I would try Prozac.

Haven't tried it. Only one i've tried is Zoloft (sertraline) which i'm still on and is usually the first choice for SA. Been on 50mg/day for a couple of months and it seems to be helping me a fair bit. Though ive always been sceptical of meds and still don't think it's gonna be a long term fix. My doc seems to think its the best of the lot for SA though. I haven't really had any side effects (except a bit at the start) so maybe give it a try and if you don't like it then swap.
