Re: Famous people with social phobia-

Joey Ramone had OCD which made him very shy and socially inert. He really frustrated the rest of the band because it took him forever to get ready to leave anywhere because he had to touch everything on his way. Ive always found a connection with Joey because before they started the band he was the quiet, reclusive person and I remember reading about his brother talking about the first time he saw Joey on stage it was as if he was possessed and was a completely different person and thats exactly how I am, the stage is the only place where my anxiety is gone. RIP Joey

Anna Williamson, who used to present Toonatik with Jamie Rickers (this ones probably just for us Brits). She doesn't have full-blown SA but she does/did used to suffer very bad panic attacks. That really surprised me especially considering how confident she comes across too

I think some people can act easily even with SA just like some people can hold jobs together fine. Maybe for them acting is just like any other job and the fact that it's fake means they can get through it. It's when it comes to real life and iteractions that the problems arise

Famous People With Social Anxiety Disorder
These are actors, singer and mainly people in sports that have SA. I think they r able to do their jobs because they really have passion in what they do, and also make great efforts.

Re: Famous people with social phobia?

When I saw Avril Lavigne , Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Lucille Ball, Robert Deniro and Tom Cruise on the list, i just literally shed tears, cause people like that I looked up to and I never would've thought. I hate the fact that everyday normal people walk around like so egotistical and cocky to think they perfect. Then they like to crack a f king joke about someone else. I hate people like that who think theyre better then everyone else. I come to believe that noones perfect no matter what the f *ck they say, theyre full of sh*t. And Jack Nicholson from the Shining and Axl Rose of Guns N Roses, suspected of Bipolar, wow.

How about Benjamin Orr of the CARS? Does anyone know who he is? 2nd singer who sang the hits Just What I Needed, Bye Bye Love, All Mixed Up, Candyo, All I Can Do, Cando, Lets go, Hold on To long, Running to you, And Drive He didn't like the camera much and he didn't move around on stage. He was kind of shy. Maybe he had social anxiety as well. He also had women problems cause of being shy.

Re: Famous people with social phobia-

8O Yep, definitely awkward, lol shes like "When is this gonna end?" , i thought at some points shed just leave, near the end she went quite bad, kept playing with her hair, just nodding her head to answer the questions.

Damn now im gonna grow sympathy for her, i may even be a fan :p

I just read this and to think the great female artist, Avril Lavigne, who i loved for so long has the same problem as me. its just hard to believe. She is someone I look up to by listening to her songs and just get inspired by her all this time.

I would say out of the celebrities I have personally known, about 1/3 have a form of social anxiety.

Panic/anxiety disorder comes and goes, many celebrities are shy when they are trying to be themselves-- it's much easier for ANY entertainer to be their 'character' than it is to be vulnerable and honest because honesty tends to get them into trouble with the media.

Depression is extremely common for people in the limelight- which leads to excessive use of drugs and alcohol.

BDD is also something that is common, as even the most beautiful people will get plastic surgery in order to change how they look because they believe they are ugly.

Paranoia is another thing that people don't seem to think of but when some stranger repeatedly sends you death threats because they don't like something the media says about you and you are forced to hire 12 bodyguards to guard you in your own home, I think that could be classed as paranoia.

I don't understand this idea that people have that celebrities are not regular human beings just because they can be in movies or sing or model.
They had to work hard to get where they are, most have a sad story behind their fame that is infact TRUE.
Just assuming everyone is fake is really rude.
How would you like it if someone looked at you the same way you look at a celebrity?
'Oh, well he's beautiful but probably has had a million plastic surgeries and is a giant liar. I hate him.'

Get to know a person and you will see that we're all quite similar.
Introvert or extrovert, we all have fears, we all have real doubts about ourselves- whether it's reported in an E magazine or not.
