Well, I was thinking about this question while watching a DVD on the existence of God (cause I just love this stuff) :D and seeing all these famous people who are theists and atheists and I was just wondering is there any famous or well known people that suffer from Sp? I just wanted to know cause It would be nice to look up to someone like that. Any comments appreiciated. Thanks.

Ok, i have three things to say
1) existence of God and all that stuff really interests me too :D
2) Edward scissorhands is the best
3) Johnny depp is really cool, but how could someone with SA be an actor. That would be a nightmare job wouldn't it?

depends how well he coped with it and whether he simply ha a specific phobia such as using public toilets, that wouldnt really be too strenuous for an actor

he beat it obviously. i know 2 girls that are just amazing. iv known them for a while ... but i didnt know how great they really were until recently .... cause i opened up to them ... and so did they. turns out they both had sp, both of them really bad like i used to be, used to have panic attacks and everything. now they are doing amazing things, one of them still suffers abit of sp, the other is fully recovered. Like lets throw a few things in here to give you an idea, model, media career, airport security, magazine photographer .... cool eh ?

I can totally understand how someone could be a professional performer like an actor and still have social phobia. I have performed in various ways, singing, dancing, giving speeches, teaching etc on numerous occasions and I experience less anxiety than the average person in these situations.

Unfortunately, once I actually have to interact with people, I have lots of problems. I would say I have specific rather than general social phobia, but over the years it has got wider and wider. Still, it doesn't really happen when I am in front of an audience because then I feel in control, and audiences are (in my opinion) more predictable than small group interactions.

It is kind of frustrating sometimes. I sing in a choir and I am at least ten times as worried about going for a quick drink at the pub after the concert than I am about performing in the concert itself, even when the concert is being recorded for public broadcast and the music is really difficult and there are so few people that the smallest mistake will be obvious. Go figure.

So I could easily believe that some actors could have social phobia.

night shade i relate to that man.

in business ... im a lion. iv sold thousands of dollars worth of services to the most hardened career conmen you will find ... iv sold useless crap to RICH proffesionals in one of the most notorious board rooms in sydney property development.

but .. often times to do something simple on a personal\social level, im all shy and anxious !! grrr how fuckin stupid does that sound
