ARGHHH! I re-activated my facebook account just to have a look and i now feel more depressed. Everyone who were in school and college with me have pictures of them partying and having a good time, arrghhhhh! It's so unfair! A girl from my past has all these new friends and she's forgotten all about me, perhaps i am too boring for her

facebook is a pain in the ass. I've just read an article about deleting you're profile from it because people are becoming addictive to seeing what other people are doing. Its all another way of saying to people-hey look at me aren't I popular and I really don't give a shit about it anymore. If someone sends me a message I'll reply or if I need to send someone something then that's fine but I deliberately don't look through peoples photos and stuff because it just depresses me and I've got better things to do. Don't worry I'm sure this facebook phase will die out soon like myspace. Until the next thing comes along. :D

I find facebook kinda boring b/c no one messages me and the apps are annoying. I log in every day just to check things but nothing really ever changes. instead i just get depressed looking at pictures of my friends doing fun things without me

but I hate being in photos anyway so I dont know why I complain!

Idk. its just a way for people to say "look at me, i have a social life!" and it hurts because I dont and it doesnt look like im getting one anytime soon

I did exactly the same. I went onto it just to see if anyone from my past was on there and there was loads. In all the photos their all smiling having a good time etc. It made me feel awful.

In a way it was good that I did it though as now I'm even more determined than ever.

EDIT: Oh, one thing I will add.

Although you see everyone smiling and having fun doesn't mean their having a good life. Everyone smiles for a photo, it's just one moment in time.

There's one girl on there who my sister is friends with. If you look at her page you would think she's really happy and loving life, but in reality she's chronically paranoid, is very unhappy and is getting counselling because of depression and stuff.

Any of those websites are fucking stupid. What's even worse is that people start pressuring you into signing up for an account and you get sucked into the vortex.

I like Facebook. I think I must look at it in a different way to some people here. I only originally joined to keep in contact with someone who left at work... I now have four friends (ha, I wish) from work on there. I don't find the pictures too depressing because I guess I don't want to be a party animal anyway. But I DO find them intimidating - I've said before that I feel like a kid, and being able to sit there going through pictures of people looking and acting like adults with lives doesn't help.

I don't have my photo or anything other than basic information on there, I just use it for communication. And for that I absolutely love it because I can talk to people almost like I want to in real life. Without it I may never have got past 'hi' with anyone.

I don't have anyone I knew from school on there. I don't know whether it's a good or a bad thing that nobody's looked for me ;)

I generally have it to keep in touch with people i don't know well enough to have on msn, is funny how i keep getting requests from people ive never spoken too or i obviously didn't like *Ignore*. Yeah it can be used for the social 'look it me' if your that kind of person but that doesnt mean that you have to, it can be used for a good use, sometimes is a way to get to know someone better (like an ice breaker) so it makes it easier to talk to them the next time you meet. I mainly just like drawing random crap on people's graff walls ^^

I just recently joined it because a friend convinced me I didnt really want to to start with.. Iv gotten back in touch with some mates who i never thought id see or hear from again, its great seeing how they'v changed and catching up.

Just this morning I look in my email and theres a new friend request from someone, who, whilst not in my main group at school, I liked so much id actually start laughing when id see him of a morning. Id do that every morning couldnt control it. See this guy and some others, crack up laughing from when i seen them at a distance to to when i got there

Exactly, I know quite a few people on facebook like that. Some people on facebook try way too hard to look happy, cool etc. You often find that very content people don't need to flaunt their 'lives' in the face of others.

I've got a MySpace, but I haven't really done anything with it at all since I graduated high school almost a year ago. All the pictures and stuff are old. I check it every once in a while to see if I've got messages (usually I don't). I thought about deleting it, but I keep it around as it's the only way I have to get in touch with some people.

I had mostly people who were in school with me who i didn't even associate with much, and they just add whoever just to make themselves appear popular, so basically i had zero ''real'' friends on there.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, hell I finnaly joined my space and there I found all my old friends. And then after looking at all there wonderful pictures you see how happy they are, or they went off and got married or hell even finished college. And then if they ask me how I'm doing and I'm like oh just great, I never went to college yet... lol Hell I'll prolly look like a bum r s/thing...
