so I would encourage y'all to close your eyes tightly and smash your nose down onto the submit button.

I AGREE :D

hows my post in this thread: http://www.socialphobiaworld.com/how-do-you-deal-with-suicidal-thoughts-21015/page-3/#post205559
I didnt want to post it because it wasnt perfectly written or whatever. and I think that Im not clear in it.

and I noticed that I added at the end "i dont know, just some ideas" just incase other people thought it was a bad post.

Sometimes I'll type something out in a rush of enthusiasm, then I'll read it and think to myself: "No one wants to read this shit!" :D

Well I guess for me I've already done this a thousand times before I actually post my original thoughts not until I found this "Got something to say? Post it here. Just don't forget to be considerate with what you post ;)" so I've been thinking twice if I would post it or not to post it lol ...

I do this just about every other day. I do it a lot in MSN and Facebook as well, whether I'm commenting on someone's status update or I'm in an IM conversation with someone. The IM conversation thing is the worst too, because I get really conscious of the fact that they can see the little "Blake is typing" indicator, and then it just goes away and nothing ends up coming through. Maybe they didn't look, but I automatically assume that they did and now I just look like a freak.

Skype is even more intimidating, because not only does it indicate when a person is typing, it also indicates when you're erasing or backspacing... so people know that you were going to say something and changed your mind, or that you are making changes to what you typed.

I had to lol at that, cos I noticed the very same thing. Then again I tend to aviod Skype these days because of all the spam messages I keep getting. Don't know how I got them, I don't even post my Skype name anywhere.

And yes I often type out posts and think twice about posting them, and in some cases don't even bother.

Yes, very often. What's worse is sometimes I get tired of this so when I'm not totally satisfied with a post I'll just say "screw it" and just post it anyway, and almost always I'll go back and delete it, but by then the damage is done.

This highlights an issue with social phobic people in that we are constantly editing our thoughts. Social-able people just go "yabble-yabble-yabble" with hardly a thought about what they are saying (observe this, often it is total crap). We, on the other hand, have over-considered speech that remains in our brains until we are sure it is polished and appropriate. Unfortunately the conversation can be over by then, or we can be so perfectionist that it is never ready to be released.

Yep. I do this quite often too. I'll just start typing away, then I'll go back and read it and then think, "Oh crap. What if someone doesn't like my post?" or "What if what I type offends someone or they make fun of me?" Silly thoughts, I know. :p

It's not so much that I don't post it, but more that I post it when I haven't fully elaborated the thoughts behind the post. Like now, for example. I have a book load of added elaboration rushing through my head that I want to cramp in this post, yet only 4-5 sentences remain intact. Most of which isn't very helpful as far as clarity is concerned.

I don't know, but putting raw semi-processed thoughts into understandable language is one of the hardest things to do for me.

Not too much. Only in serious threads that ask "serious" questions for "serious" advice. Really nervous for wrong advice given. Type, think, backspace, yep, it's all wrong. Back button read something else.

And now feeling I said too much.

Not so much now: I just never go back to the posts to look at what I've written ever again::p:.

Years ago I had the fear of stopping threads cold with any input, so I named myself "threadkilla". (others are welcome to the name tho', btw :))

What again?

Oh all the time. I'll also delete a lot of the posts that I have already made, or edit it out. Like I was just going to delete this because it's soooo boring. Agh.

I’d say about one out of three of my posts get axed. I get halfway through them and lose interest or realize they aren’t things that need to be said.

Yeah, I do that quite a lot. I'll type down a huuuuuge paragraph, be satisfied with it, read over it, and then automatically feel self-conscious about it and leave the page ::p:
