ETS (any good things?!)

I've read the post about ETS side effects/complications etc.

Is there anyone that has had it done without these (or minimum trouble) & found it helpful?

Saw a surgeon today.

It sounds scary that the only thing that MIGHT help is potentially life-threatening :(

From reading some of the accounts people have made on their experience with ETS, it seems in many cases that some of the side effects take a few years before they start to become noticed, maybe even five or more years. So you have to think about this when people who have only recently had the surgery give their account.

It's your decision at the end of the day but it is a big risk to take when its your body we're talking about here.

Where is your hyperhidrosis and what have you tried up to this point? Also do you have a name of the surgeon you saw?

Thanks for the reply. I have 'Global' HH (everywhere) but it's mainly my hands that bother me as obviously they are the most obvious.

My goal is to train as a doctor before training as a surgeon & working so closely with people I have to think about how this could affect my career.

I had a work placement in a nursery about 3 years ago & I quit after 3 weeks because the kids (about 2/3) were making comments. I was offered an amazing job working with disabled epileptics but I turned the job down because of my hands.

I can't face the humiliation & the denting on my self-confidence anymore :(

I do plan to look into ALL aspects of the operation & the side effects.

I've tried Probanthine tablets & anhydrol forte (I sweat it off faster than it soaked in!)

The surgeon I will be seeing is Dr S Brearly (London)
