Driving anxiety

I feel like I will never learn to drive well... EVER!

I am so pressured, confused, unsure when I'm on the road. Multitasking just stresses me so much. Too many things to see, too many things to look out for. Too many things to remember. It's just overwhelming. I've already done like 30 hours driving and I'm still horrible. :crying:

Ouch. Well don't give up. Practice makes perfect. Why don't you try taking a public transportation or have someone drive by your side? maybe that will help you.

I keep telling that to myself. I'm still a learner's so I drive with supervision all the time. I just feel like I'll never be able to progress forward to probationary license.

Maybe I'm just not meant to drive at all. *sigh*

It took me well over 30 hours to get comfortable driving (Edit: Comfortable enough for me to attempt taking the test). Now that I drive alone, I'm still not completely comfortable, but I think that's good. I'm worried if I get too comfortable I will get distracted and make really bad mistakes.

And everyone's different. If it's something you really want you should keep trying. It might gradually get easier for you, or maybe one day, like me, it will suddenly all click and become easier.

Only driven 13 hours here and I'm feeling the same way. Almost everytime another driver is right behind me, I assume that I'm not going fast enough and I feel pressured to accelerate some more.

Right now, public transport seems so much more convenient. I can read and listen to music at the same time.

It takes a lot longer than that to get comfortable on the road, it's not even abnormal... Give yourself a year at least... And unlike fate, I would suggest you don't take public transportation and you drive as much as you can, in places you know and don't know, and without anyone by your side to distract you...

Edit: What an environmentally friendly advice I just gave you! Throw that car in the garbage and just buy a bike...

It took ages for me getting used to driving. I think I was about 28-29 before becoming truly comfortable driving anywhere

My best friend has been driving for 14 years and he's still nervous about driving, he sits a 90 degree and clenches the wheel the entire time.
I've been in a major car wreck that nearly killed me and I'm not bothered by driving at all, what Im saying is, if youve only driven 30 hours youre not exactly very experienced yet and its just different for different people. Out of curiosity, what are you driving, automatic or manual?

I'm driving an automatic car.

I seem to do well in countryside but I am so bad when driving on busy roads. *sigh*

I've been driving for 8 years or so now but I remain feeling very uncomfortable and anxious with driving in unfamiliar areas, especially crowded ones. It doesn't help that I've been living outside the same town I grew up in primarily during my childhood and teenage years in a remote area. My commute to work is through the woods and it's typical to not make many stops or see many other cars. Some of the more quaint towns in this state also have unusual traffic patterns like a two way road converging to a one way road after a stop, or 3 way intersections allowing only one direction right of way at all times. I couldn't blame someone for not being comfortable with driving after only 30 hours.
