I had this problem when I find out about SA. I went to the doctor and they said it was cause by me being so nervous. I would not be able to breath out for a long time. I felt like I was going to dying. My breathing is getting worse now is there anything I can do now for it.

I'm not sure what kind of advice to give you on this matter, but I can sort of relate. I noticed lately that my breathing has been kind of uneven. It mostly happens when I'm in the car or doing something as simple and unnerving as sitting there eating dinner with my mom. It's definitely because of my nerves, but I'm not too sure about the cause in your case. Maybe try some breathing exercises? I've been doing this one known as the 4-7-8 relaxing breath exercise and I feel like it's helping me out some. You can read about it here, as well as other breathing exercises:

Breathing: Three Exercises - Dr. Weil

Hope this helps!

Yes, I have trouble breathing when I am experiencing generalized anxiety. I feel like I can't get enough air sometimes. I think the best thing you can do is stay calm and try to focus on taking slow, even breaths. If you freak out it will only get worse!

I get this quite abit, once it starts to happen I know I'm going to have a panic attack so I do whatever I can to calm down. If it happens while I'm out I just find a bathroom ASAP, go in and just sit down, take long deep and rhythmic breaths. Music helps me the best but thats cuz music is pretty much my drug of choice haha. Someone could come up and stab me many times while listening to some sweet jams and I wouldn't feel it till the songs over lol

Sometimes I have trouble breathing, and will also "choke" often. Both seem to be symptoms of anxiety. They are quite troubling. When it happens I see it as a reminder that I have to relax. Did the doctor suggest anything? I am always interested in what they have to say about these things. Their answers never satisfy me! Haha...

i've wondered if there's a correlation before.

i do have trouble breathing... nothing extreme but slight difficulties. i have narrow nasal passages that are easily blocked (swelling from allergies?) and i think i have smallish lungs.

Breathe through the diaphragm, not the chest. If you are doing it correctly, you should be able to see your stomach area moving up and down. Also keep your mouth closed.

Barbara Markway's book "Painfully Shy" has instructions how to do this.

Yes i have trouble breathing. Especially when i feel anxious in a social situation. But i have also trouble breathing when i'm alone. Often i feel the urge of breathing in very deeply and i yawn allot (=breathing in deeply). Allong with this i also had a couple of symptoms that pointed in the direction of chronic hyperventilation. Made a thread about that some time ago.
