With science there is nothing to "believe"...it's like asking "Do you believe in chairs?", it's just there.

God? No. I'm not just going to believe something that's written in a book, passed down and mutilated through the centuries.

@ mutilated through the centuries. look up the dead sea scrolls and other such stuff. amazingly, hardly any difference in the stuff. course now, we've got a billion diff translations, but the meat of all of them is the same. they've just got slightly different sides. like while one may have corn on the cob, another has creamed corn.

Well, I mean that if there is a god that presumably created the universe and everything in it, then scientists are simply figuring out how this god designed everything.

Wouldn't that make him/her/it the greatest inventor/designer rather then a scientist?

I always thought science was about observation and analysis, since he/she/it already knows how it all works, there wouldn't be any reason to explore and analyse anything.

I suppose that could make him/her/it the ultimate teacher also. Good grief, he/she/it may know how to construct the perfect pizza.. I must find this entity. :O

I found this question to be a tricky one, because it implies that science is one thing and god is another one, 2 completely separate and different things....O.O? why does it have to be like that?, isn't the creation of the world, the universe, the mind, (what ever you imagine, feel and think) the good and the bad, all of what is experienced through life... part of his creation??? I often read or hear in either tv or magazines that scientists are either inventing or creating something new but I call it BS because one cannot create something that dosen't exist,( to do so you have to be outside of god) all cures and a better living just like technology ALREADY exist and is just merely "waiting" to be discovered. so if I am discovering LIFE through science... em I not discovering GOD (creation) through it, what is LIFE really?.... is a human body one thing? just like what is a car or a house? can I call a human body the heart or an arm or can I call car the sits of a car or even name the wheels a car?, when I think of the word GOD i think of a whole lot of a bunch of things that make that word, so I do not think that god is something isolated or completely away from life... who made us think like that in the first place and why?? o_O?
why is it that we humans have to level every thing. some see a tiger as an evil thing just because his nature is killing and some other people see the beauty in the tiger. so I am thinking... if we are talking about life... aren't we talking about GOD, and if we were to talk of science.. wouldn't we'll be talking of both, life and the creation itself. so in that sense I wonder why we as humanity got so damn lost to wonder away from life (god) and seek him in weird tiny places....................... WHEN HE IS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe in both God and science. Science is all around us so that is a given. As for whether or not God exists, I'm not that religious I just choose to believe that's all. No rationale behind it, I just do. It's not like I'm looking for some higher power to save me from anything. That's something you have to do for yourself.

Well, I mean that if there is a god that presumably created the universe and everything in it, then scientists are simply figuring out how this god designed everything.
I must be a pathetic shell of a man when I can't even make a proper joke stand out. Such a sad life I lead...

Praise Dr.Doom
Amen.

I have faith in God. Maybe some of you will think it's uneducated or because I live in the ''Bible Belt'' region of the U.S. and I'm cool with that. I like to believe I seen the Hand of God a couple times when I was a fireman.

The god of the old testament bible is not a nice person... Most people would be greatly disheartened if they knew who "he" or more appropriately "they" really are. It's disturbing and probably should be left hidden from the general public.

Having said that, I do feel the presence of a positive force. It's like this inexplicable warmth that seems to be more appearant in times of distress. Like a beam emanating from the sky that keeps me from falling into an abyss of total dispare.

I guess you could call it "God" but I personally prefer not to, considering I know the history of the word... Maybe "The Grand Creator" would be a better choice. Denomination-less and universal.

...and to further clarify my theosophical/philosophical views: I believe in science as an extension of every man's innate ability to overcome obstacles; whatever they may be; and this reasoning ability was given to us, for that purpose.

In other words, "The Grand Creator" gave us a brain so we can work our way out of this straight jacket we call life; letting reason be our guide, but never losing touch with our emotions. Because, without them, there is no value to our experience; thereby rendering the experience of living meaningless.

The literal neurological purpose of emotional response is to prioritize and apply value to experiences (stimuli).

I see no single reason why I should believe that one or more deities of any sort exist. So arguments like "god is science" or "scientists are believer" or something like that sound really strange to me.

But as long as you accept that not everyone shares your believes, and thus you have no right to force others to act according to your believes, I'm ok with that. :)

I chose God (though I rarely use that term in a spiritual way, I am much more fond of Tao)

I think science is valid within the scientific realm; however, I do not feel it can adequately explain anything within the fields of my preoccupation. Science is quite useful, but some things are simply beyond the scope of science (unless science is twisted into something unscientific).
