Dislike of my own country

I always feel that everybody is much more friendly, open and courteous than here in the UK.
But the grass is always greener, and there are lot of things I do like about British people, such as our sarcastic and playful sense of humour.

Funny, I sometimes hear that we are so much more friendly here in the good ole US of A, but I also hear that many find us obnoxiously loud and rude. I guess it's a split opinion, haha. Personally I tend to find Americans obnoxious on the whole, but there are those who aren't so. Maybe it's not Americans specifically, maybe it's just that I don't like people ::p:

And the British sense of humor, that is my favorite thing about you guys :D I always found British sitcoms worlds more entertaining than American ones. Most American humor, in my opinion, is just lame and juvenile (not that there isn't crappy British humor as well, I'm sure there is). Aside from some of the great intelligent American comedians and television programs of days past, it's all **** now haha.

And I just had a "whoa" moment realizing that we are all able to converse with each other from every corner of the globe.

Welcome to the 21st century, Tally. Haha. Jeez, I need to get with it ::p:

I live in quite a cosmopolitan city in Asia. English is our main language, and while we are very small in size compared to our counterparts much of what we have is world class. It really should be a great place to live in (excellant safety, good education, high standard of living, good recreation eg. shopping, nightlife, many types of delicious foods/cusines). In reality I hate this city. It i too fast moving for me. Should I need to leave this place one day for some reason I would never look back. I feel nothing for it though I have been born and bred here my whole life. So many sad and unhappy memories.

I hate the UK it's going worse everyday I like Wales but I like Scotland more! The things I hate about Wales is the rats (chavs) criminals and other vermin infesting our towns and city...

I think it is natural to like a place that's foreign to us, but then we soon realize... It's nearly the same just different people...
I wish I was living in Singapore... Felt amazing there...,

The thing is I should have little to complain about. Netherlands is one of the worlds richest countries, everything is arranged pretty well (but a bit bureaucratic and lots of rules). There's no natural disasters, no dangerous animals, the weather isn't too bad. It has some lovely old cities. The government isn't as corrupt as many other countries and quite transparent and there's a pretty fair income based tax-system. Most politicians are complete rubbish but that goes for every nation. They're all egoic, hypocrite, mudthrowing, two-faced liars. But such is the nature of politics and you can't change that.

I dislike the mentality. Dutch people love to complain, the fault is always someone else's and most people aren't humble enough to forgive someone for their mistake or admit their own mistake. Most of the young people my age are arrogant, loud, egoic, judgemental, materiaistic and boorish and overall in bad taste.
You're regarded almost like a freak here if you're not really outgoing and drinking beer every weekend for college aged people. Culture and art is either extremely snobby elitists or on the other spectrum troglodytes who hate art and intellectualism or the simpletons who have awful taste in music and entertainment.
Most people in general don't seem to give a $hit about one another. Also, we are one of the worlds most overpopulated countries. There's hardly any nature. You can't even walk into the woods without meeting someone. The language and way people talk also strangely sounds harsh and awful to me. I prefer English or French.

Also I don't want to sound racist but this is my opinion: mass immigration really turned some neighbourhoods in the Netherlands and Belgium into complete muslim zones. It's like entire neighbourhoods completely lost their identity and turned into these isolated muslim enclaves with lots of freeloaders on welfare checks. There's people hanging out on the street 24/7. Some don't even speak Dutch. Don't they have jobs? Some are very unfriendly and the younger guys are very provocative towards Dutch people, and they have an awful macho culture. I've had many angry looks and guys making remarks.

I will never vote for a rightwing extremist like Wilders, because he's an idiot who breeds hatred, but it goes without saying there's a lot wrong with multicultural society in the Netherlands, and Europe in general. I don't like saying this however, because you're immediately branded a racist by the politically correct-brigade. It's also hard because there's lots of hardworking and friendly people amongst them, but I can't help to think there's also a rather disturbing amount of freeloaders and rotten apples.

This rant is pretty bad and harsh on my own country, and I dislike myself for disliking and being hypocritic in a way, but these are some of my thoughts that sometimes occur and I can't help them. I try to be aware of these bad thoughts and be convinced that positive change starts with myself. Also tend to forget the truth is often far more nuanced then the little stories and concepts I create of what our society and its people are like, based on my own generalizations and underbelly feelings. Also there's absolutely a lot of well natured and friendly/funny/ people.

^ Some of the issues you posted about The Netherlands happens in Australia, too, regarding immigration and intolerance.

I would love to visit The Netherlands one day. Amsterdam seems like an excellent city.

Im proud of being pinoy but since Philippines is a third world country, There's like conflict between poor people and rich people. When my classmates already knew I use to live In America, they thought I was rich and spoiled but Im not really like that. I hate those kind of stereotypes, Filipinos thinking that foreigners or people who has money are bad and spoiled and Filipinos thinking poor people are nice, sweet and kind. why can't I live in a country thats actually tough? Also Philippines is a very religious nation. divorce is illegal In there, you have to love your enemies, even the ones who hurt you, abuse you or molest you. the soap operas? I hated them, so much drama. why can't I see a show where girls punch someone in the face for being a bully?

Some immigrants tend to really be *******s I agree, even though I am an immigrant also, they give the others a bad name,in my opinion its because the society they go to is kinda soft or they think it is,I know those guys here who run wild probably wouldnt do it in my home country because there the consequences are on a whole other level.

I have to say I love my country, though my situation might not be the best. I just love the attitude of many of the people I live around. It's like they can work hard when they need to and when they don't need to they can have a lot fun and just be care free and I think that's a good way to live life. There are many people that dislike the U.S, but the problem with that is that the U.S is a very large and diverse country filled with many different cultures(something I also love about it) and you can't judge it based on one place.
