Death/Black Metal

Does anyone else here listen to death or black metal if either you feel unmotivated to do something, such as homework or learning social skills, or feel extreme vengeance towards a certain person and need an outlet like it?

I think I've seen a picture of MikeyC in a Cannibal Corpse t-shirt before.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for aggro-tech or industrial metal, but it's been a while since I listened to death metal (there are so many metals!). Got any recommendations?

I listen to death and black metal to relax. Seriously. :)

I enjoy a variety of heavy metal styles, and death and black metal are two of them. I started liking heavier music around the age of 16 or so, and it just sort of flourished from there.

Actually, I'm listening to some death metal as I type this. :)

I've listend to it for artistic inspiration. Death metal writers are gods of literature.
It really depends on the band in question. Some of them are not really gods of literature at all, haha.

Got any recommendations?
I do, but I have so many I wouldn't know where to start. Not just death and black metal, but doom, thrash, and some others. There's a big world of heavy metal out there!

I used to listen ONLY black and death metal... But not for any of the reasons you mentionned... just because it's good

Used to? You don't listen to it anymore?

Well I still listen to it... but after some years of only metal, I started listening to other kind of music, like punk and ska, which is a lot more happy, and at some point I had to face the fact that my state of mind is way too much linked to the kind of music I listen to. Metal music put me in the "what is the meaning of all this" kind of mood, while music like punk, ska, reggae and bluegrass put me in the "who cares!" kind of mood, which is better for someone like me who is very subject to depression relapse. So now I monitor the time I spend listening to metal the same way I monitor the time I spend on the computer. :p

That's completely understandable, yeah. Mood is linked to the music you listen to in at least some respects. I listen to 95% metal, no exaggerations, so I wonder what that says about me? :D

At least you're actively doing something about your depression by limiting these things. Well done.

I want to find a girl who likes Death Metal

I developed a deep fascination of death metal because if its complexity beyond pop or orchestra and I have no interest in anything vocal. It's good for the car with the best coverage of tops, midrange and bass (22Hz) and outside horns in a wide space

I hear expression in vocals, but never words. This applies to all humans. That haunts me

I think more of electronic beats for the complexity and darkness, because it's made for speaker cone delivery, not instruments or microphones, and I like to mix this with metal. They're akin with fury and outrage

Some dislikes are Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower & Machinehead

I love Morbid Angel, Fear Factory, Death, Deicide, Testament & Obituary...

Also Megadeth, and all thrash: Anthrax & Slayer

I would have made a good drummer. Too late. I see adverts asking for a drummer to join a band
Tried piano and guitar at school. I thought it was naughty to play an electric guitar. My friends did a show at school. playing Guns 'n' Roses material

The person in charge of that - guitar & vocals - ditched his guitar in favour of his turntables, like a few of us did.
I good one chance to see him doing a gig many years later in London

Now, due to those thoughts, finding the guy of FB, shows as having the limit of 5000 friends, so I can't befriend him

I listen to Death Metal a lot. Possibly my favorite... Metal genre? sub-genre?

I listen to Black Metal quite a bit, but not a whole lot. I'm not a really big fan of it.

Good bands. Morbid Angel are probably the most consistent of the lot there, even if their latest one is a little different.

I'm not really a fan, maybe in small doses, but I am partial to quite a bit of Napalm Death, the Godfathers of Grindcore...
Yeah, I'm not a massive fan, either, but I have a few of their albums, too.

Yeah, I listened to Six Feet Under, Cannibal Corpse, and other bands like it for a while, but I have just recently started to get into black metal. Of course, I prefer video game soundtracks quite a bit as well.

I don't think I've ever really listened to Death/Black metal... I may have but I'm not sure if it was that genre or not. I listen to a lot of rock, alt rock, metal, and some nu metal like Korn and... stuff. Just recently started listening to Korn actually. But I know that stuff isn't all that heavy.

The metal that sounds like a bunch of random riffs and growls and stuff... is that what you're talking about? Where you can't discern a melody? I only like melodic stuff, so if that's it then... no.

I do as well. I'm more of a rock/metal core/symphonic metal type of person but I do listen to the heavier stuff when I just want to relax every now and then or work on projects, etc.

I agree with MikeyC that it does set one in a relaxing mood, I thought it was weird of me to use metal as a relaxation method. I guess others feel that way as well. Whatever works, right?

One of the main reasons on why I want to buy a PS2 besides it being cheaper than a PS3, a better all-around system, and for nostalgia is because I can replay the Devil May Cry series(I have too much mixed feelings about new Dante, but the gameplay looks awesome) and listen to its heavy metal, death metal background music.

I have to agree, heavy metal or any form of music can be an incredible outlet for a variety of things. But I always get looked at funny or talked about by my own family whenever I listen to it out loud.
