Funny you should say that on this day sir, as I phoned to apply for a job today! Went to answerphone though. Left a panicky voicemail..... my hands were shaking afterwards :D but I don't know if they will call back. I have spotted another job as well but I will try applying for that tomorrow as it's a bit late now.

I've never had a job or interview before, but I thought I'd better try applying anyway. I've sent CV's before but that was the first I did by phone. An amazing coincidence you and I both thought of it. Go ahead and search for them!

Ive been going through this too,my local EBgames need people for the upcoming xmas months and theyll pretty much take whoever they can get. Ive went to pick up and call so many times but I keep getting scared. I need a job badly but the thought of working with people daily makes me feel like im going to vomit.

The likelihood of being hired for seasonal work is high, so go for it. It will give you experience and you will interact with others which is always good. Fill out those applications, and take it step by step.

I need a job too...but I hate retail. Funny thing is, all my work experience is in retail and customer service. Tough job market out there. It is a retail and fast food hell! :)

I got a job the other day and I start on the 13th. It's Christmas temp and could lead to permanent work. I made a thread about it the other day, and I'm terrified to be honest. I will be working on my own on the shopfloor, I haven't used a proper till before but I think they will throw me in the deep end. The till looks so complicated, and I have to "link sell" things as well. Normally I'm really nervous about even asking for an application form but I think you should just go out there and enquire at every shop. You won't be working there forever - especially if you only get a temp job. And things might not seem as scary in reality as you believe them to be. I try and stop myself from thinking about work when I'm back home. I mean, it's so easy to think that how I come across at work and what people think of me, i.e the staff and the customers, really matters. But at the end of the day, it doesn't. I'll probably work there a year at the most (well, if I get offered the permanent thing) and then leave. Screw them all, lol.

Though saying that I am quite worried about the manager firing questions at me, and I'm particularly worried about the till thing, arghh! Especially when it gets really busy at Christmas.. It's a freaking card shop after all. But please go for it, and let me know about your progress in your job search!

Yes I've applied for xmas job with RM & had a text back from them yestaday to watch for emails to arrange an intv time, haven't heard anything yet though.
I've also signed up for temp work at Amazon for xmas only but could lead to full time in New year.
I've done xmas jobs for RM over the last 3 years on a casual basis.
That's all I seem to be able to get these days is casual work through agencies. I used to work for the BBC until I was made redundant after 25 yrs & then it was 2nd nature, just taken for granted that I would work for them right through until I retired - JOKE.
If anyone is interested in Xmas casual work for RM.
Just log on to there website on-line or for Amazon.
Contact your local Jobcentre.

Good luck.:D
