Cannabis

I have done many drugs over the last 3-4 years of my life, and to be honest I am not sure if they have contributed to my anxiety or not.

But if a drug has it has been the weed. It used to make me so paranoid sometimes just being around my friends it was unreal. I don't do it anymore though because of this. In fact, the only 'drug' that i do now is alcohol.

Just wondering if anyone else thinks that weed might have messed them up?

I personally don't think that weed messes some one up but people that do weed could be more likely to have a disposition to have sa and weed might make it worse in some of them.As I said before there's a lot of reason for sa and weed could be a contributing factor.

ive had SA since i was 12, startd using cannabis at 18. now im 27 & dependant upon it, its not the cause of my SA. however i definatly think that it contributes to it. when im at relaxd at home its fine, but in public its a diffrent story! the SA feelings are amplified by the weed.

I smoked it habitually for years and it certainly made SA alot worse, since stopping back in '99 things have got alot better, maybe in moderatioon it wouldnt have been so bad but foolishly I didnt do that

I was a heavy smoker from around 14 to 18, and when i was 18 and quit social phobia hit big style.I dont know if it caused it ( i dont think so not alone anyway.. it defo made it worse), i think it covered it up.And if i smoke it now it makes me 10 times worse. So yeah i do think cannabis has made me worse but dont think it caused anything..

Hi everyone,
At the moment I am in the final year of my psychology degree and I am doing a thesis investigating the relationship between cannabis use and anxiety. My interest in this topic stems from my own experience where I found that cannabis actually exacerbated my symptoms. However, after doing a lot of research I have actually found that many people use cannabis to self medicate their symptoms of anxiety.

At the moment scientists are still unsure about the effects of cannabis, however it is believed that there may be some people who may be more vulnerable to cannabis induced anxiety. I am currently looking for participants to complete an online survey. The survey is completely anonymous, and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. It does not matter whether you have tried cannabis before.

If my research can save just one person from experiencing a life of anxiety, then maybe my own struggle with anxiety will not be in vain.

If you are interested you can access the online survey from this link: Survey | Qualtrics Survey Software

cheers,
Matt
