BOTOX

Just registered to share my experience.
I suffered with axillary(underarm) hyperhidrosis for the past ten years. I fully understand what a terrible disease it is. I was at my wits end. I have tried every topical solution known to man. I always wore two t-shirts to hide my condition for an extra couple of hours until I soaked through both of them. I could be sitting in my room on the computer in the middle of winter with the window cracked and still be dripping from my armpits. I finally met a doctor who was willing to give me a recommendation to the dermatologist. Within one meeting we agreed on trying botox. After countless hours online I decided to try it. This was my last resort, cause the surgery ETS just seems to make most people worse in a different area. The procedure was really easy and for the most part painless. You must shave your armpits prior to the appointment. They rub iodine on the area and sprinkle it with baking soda(to see where you produce the most sweat). They administered around 60 shots on both armpits. I really didn't think it would work. About three days after the procedure no sweat AT ALL. It has been close to three months since I had the procedure and not one drop of sweat and NO compensatory sweating anywhere else. I have never been happier. Also, my anxiety is gone(shocking I know) :D I was able to have my insurance Kaiser cover all of it. I paid my ten dollar office visit copay and that was it. I will have to go back for treatment, but the time between treatments is yet to be determined. If you have thought about botox or any of this sounds like your symptoms you have to try it! I never thought it would work and thought I was stuck with this for life. Now i am "normal" again and can't praise the botox treatment enough. If you have any questions please PM me. Good luck to all of you.

Waiting on "Pins and Needles" Literally!

Hi,
I'm very glad to hear the Botox worked for you! I am supposed to get it also, in hands and underarms. I cannot wait! I should've got it already but the prescription company screwed up and didn't ship in time for the business trip I'm going on, so I'm upset but I'm going to try everything else possible to not make this a disaster.

Started using the Drysol again every other night on undarms and on hands (does not seem to be working on hands as usual since I've had this stuff for years which is why I'm going with the Botox) as a desperate measure and bringing it with me along with Baby Powder, short sleeve shirts, etc!

So back to the subject, I am hoping so much that the Botox helps. The insurance covered it, but the RX is still costing a couple of hundered (well under $500 at least) but the visit and injections should just be a copay as well. I should be receiving a call very soon from the Doc to make my appointment. Will let you know how it goes!

I'm really pleased for you. :D

I'm hoping to get botox for blushing. I've found somewhere that does it, although it costs nearly £400. I will get it done, but thinking I might as well wait until I have to go out in public more since it lasts only 6 months. For now, it's easier just to avoid people

I wish it would one day be available on the NHS.

Keep us posted after getting the Botox Tiny. It is amazing all of the things we do....baby powder, certain shirts, avoiding people, etc... all cause of this hyperhidrosis. What is even more amazing is not having to deal with all of this anymore. Best of luck. Please come back and let me know how it worked for you.

How I survived the trip sans b-tox

I sure will. I'm back now from my trip, and I made it thru without having the B-tox yet!

As weather is getting chilly here and I'm less sweaty at the moment, where I went for the trip was like summer climate. The drysol type stuff seemed to work on the underarms, I got crazy with it and used it every day for a week before the trip and while I was there (even though every day for me irritates and itches a bit). I didn't have any issues with excess sweat (meaning underarms), and the AC in the building was slightly high, so it got me a little cool and I wore short sleeves just to be on the safe side.

Hands - the topical did not work, talc didn't do much. I sucked it up. I carried a napkin with me and made sure I wiped my best before shaking anyones hand without them noticing. I also gripped it differently than usual. My usual sweaty shake is i touch hand very lightly shaking just their top fingers trying not to touch too much but that's probably too obvious. This time I tried not letting the palms touch and just the thumbs and pinkys do the grip. I think it worked better this way. Also, I had my own computer with me so I didn't have to touch anyone elses and get it wet. And again the short sleeves and AC was helpful because the sweat was colder and hopefully more difficult to detect. In one situation someone was shaking multiple hands one after another so I may have blended in as they were going thru quickly.

So now since I've been back in the cool weather, things have dried up a bit but still going to go for the b-tox. It seemed it arrived at the Dr. so I just have to touch base and make the appt. Work has made it difficult to schedule at this time but I'm hoping next week. Will keep you posted!

Got the axillary (underarms) done! Pain: hardly, after some numbing just a few pinches felt on the outer areas but not bad at all just a little annoying, no noticible pain or discomfort after leaving the Dr. Rested on couch for an hour or two just in case with my laptop and a book. Now just waiting to see the results, supposed to take a while to kick in (a week or so) and I'm told it may not stop it 100% but whatever it doesn't stop could be controlled with regular deoderant! Results vary, as I have researched 3 months at worst, one year at best. Will see!
