Hi everyone,

Like the title said I've barely left the house since I was about 17. I'm now 21 and in University I barely go to classes even though I really want to get my degree. My social life is non-existent. I barely leave the house except to go to the shops and recently for a party my parents had in my childhood home. However, that party filled mw with dread for weeks and when it finally happened I kind of just sat there and eventually went upstairs early.

I used to be pretty into creating hobby games and I just find no motivation to do this anymore. I've been stuck on the beginning stages of a project for about a year now. I also barely even play video games either. I'll turn them on then off again like 10 minutes later. My sleeping pattern is erratic and I'll regularly stay in bed till like 6 at night.

I have barely any friends left because I never go out because I'll feel as though they're trying to trick me or will judge me and such silly nonsense my mind will make up. I have no idea what I do with my days they're just filled with mindless browsing of the Internet day after day for four years now.

I have no idea what to do at this point and I definitely don't want to be like this anymore. I uses to be fit, social and driven. I'm none of those things anymore.

You can't wait until you're not afraid anymore to do the things you dread, because that day won't come. Your purpose should be to keep on attending events you'd like to attend and seeing people you'd like to see, and eventually, with repeat exposure, you'll get a better hold on your anxiety.

It's also very important not to beat yourself up when you do something and feel so anxious you almost throw up. Be proud that you did it, and see it as an experiment where you try different techniques until you find a few that really help.

That's what I do - I'm on the internet every day. Been wasting away for several years now. Too afraid to get out there in the world. Not sure where to go or what to do if I did push myself. I wish I could get some divine guidance about where I should go and what to do, but that prayer doesn't seem to be getting answered. Some people are able to go within in meditation and receive guidance, but I can't get it to work.

Wouldn't that be a matter of thinking of things you'd like to do? Specific things you'd like to do, places you'd like to go, etc. Surely you think about stuff like that.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of getting a job when I said that and wonder what kind of work I should do. I can't think of any job that I'd like to do. But I figure if God knows all things, he should know where I would be most happy and where I would fit in and make friends. That's why I would like to receive some guidance about that.

The only guidance can only come from yourself, friends, family, or maybe a counselor. Surely there's things you're passionate about.

You're still young. I was doing the same thing when I was your age (minus being in college, which I just recently started). I regret all the years I wasted being afraid of really living .

ok so you have no social life and dont know what to do with yourself or how to make freinds . This might sound crazy but try this : Buy an electric guitar and learn some really simple power chords . People love heavy blues (Sabbath-esque riffs). very simple/basic riffs but crowds eat it up. especially at bars.

Just do that , then start jamming with people, and eventually meet up with some other guys and play some songs at a bar. Just get up on stage in front of a bunch of people and play your electric guitar. It can really change your outlook on life.. and when you're up there just act like you're the coolest guy in the world playing a concert at a huge arena. Just ACT for a minute

For an example of the kind of riff im talking about, skip to 3:32 minutes into this song. Crowds love riffs like that, even if they dont like heavy music.

and this whole song in general.

I've tried before to get out of this rut and nothings worked so far. I know how to make friends and I'm actually pretty good at that. I just lose touch with friends when old habits start to appear again. I also already play guitar and have done since i was 13 and been in many bands. However, I haven't for a while and it might be an idea. I developed social skills in my younger years i had large groups of friends until I was about 17 then I had a major falling out a break up and started staying in more often until I got to this point.

I remember back in my first year of university my friend asked me to go out for his birthday and I had an intrusive thought that he was trying to trick me. Of course he wasn't but ever since then I've been getting these feelings more and more to the point were I think people are sometimes judging me in public. It's all so ridiculous I wish I didn't think that way.
