Are non stick cookwares cause serious health issues?

I found this article on healthy cooking pans and I became a little bit conscious about cookware health.
I heard from some one that cooking and eating in nonstick cookwares will lead to cause of cancers in long shot. Is this true? I use less oil or no oil to cook dishes which if not in non sticks will burn the bottoms of the vessel seriously. After learning about non sticks I am scared to cook in them. Please suggest me alternate to nonstick or some good brands of nonstick which assure no health issues. Thank you.

I've heard that when the nonstick surface gets very hot that it gives off some kind of toxic fumes, dont know how true that is though.
Also heard that aluminum cookware can cause Alzheimer's.
But who knows...
Maybe use steel or stainless steel and nonstick spray?

The Government of Canada actually put out a news release talking about this sort of thing last year:

The safe use of cookware

Basically, what you can take away from this info is that you shouldn't use metal spatulas/spoons/forks when cooking, as those increase the risks of higher than easily-tolerable amounts getting into your food.

Also, don't leave food you intend to eat later too long in the metal pans you cooked it in.

Don't heat stuff wrapped in plastic (or stored in plastic containers) in the microwave. Put it on a plate first.

And the most important thing: Do not buy cookware from China/Taiwan/Developing Nations as they don't have stringent health and safety standards. Their uses of cadmium, lead, and other known carcinogens are far too frequent, so just stay clear of them altogether.

Just remember that cast-iron pans have been in use for a thousand-plus years for a good reason, and wooden spoons are plentiful at your local Target-Mart.
