Am I screwed?

I'm in college right now, this is my first year of college. Basically, most of the tuition is being paid by Financial Aid. But, I still had to take out some loans. They expect me to start paying for the loans next year, early May i think. But, heres the real problem. I have no job at all, never held a job before. I'm scared that i wont be able to pay for it. The only person who works in my house hold is my little brother( I feel guilty for that, he shouldn't be the one supporting the family..) and my sh**** older brother just sits all day playing his PSP.

I've been forcing myself to find part time jobs for some time now, I have SA so its hard for me to apply everywhere, I'm scared that i will have to socialize with a lot of people, so i've been really picky of where i apply. I've have been trying to get a job for a couple months now, but out of all the application that i turned in, I finally got a interview at a fast food restaurant. But, i dont think it went well at all, since when I called back, he said all of the position was filled already.

There are some limits to where I apply, you see i only have the choice of applying to places that are about 10 miles from where i live. I don't have a car yet, because my family doesn't have enough for another car. My mom is the only one who can drive me anywhere.

At this point, im starting to have regrets for even going college...I went because of pressure i guess. Everyone, my family, teachers, fellow HS classmates. They all were expecting me to go to college... I didn't want to end up a loser.

PLEASE give me some advice! any tips on getting part-time jobs? I'll be happy to have any job as of now! I'm terrify of what will happen if that day comes...[/b]

Usually they don't require you to start paying back student loans until after you have graduated (or dropped out).

I wish I could help you but I too am looking for a part time job. I want the most boring lonely job ever that nobody would want because thats my dream job. I didnt think you paid off loans untill you quit or graduated? I was getting some loans and when I stoped going they said I'd have to start paying them back untill I started going back to school again.

my advice would be to save as little as 10-20 dollars per week into an interest account like ING direct because right now your money will grow faster then usual because the banks are being friendly in preperation of a big recession to save the economy ..

how do you get the money? part time jobs are easy to find in hospitality or retail ... mow lawns, wash cars, the work sounds horrible and dull but it'll help in the long run

you will be fine by the way, they'll give you room to pay it all off

part of the reason that the economy has inploded is because banks allow loans to be handed to people like students and home buyers that don't or can't pay it off mainly in america but also other countries ...

i believe that university fees are way too high in the first place being part of the problem but its a massive responsibility taking on a loan, you have to plan it out from the start including how you pay it off, because you may not get a job at the end...

the best way is to either work for a year and save the money that allows you to take a year or two off and live at with your parents or find a cheap place to rent ...

its difficult to manage without the help of your parents to keep you grounded, trust me ive done it and the pressure to keep inside a budget and earning enough to eat and rent is a heavy weight, if i fail the course its all been for nothing

i'll be honest being an adult has its downside when it comes to all the pressure of education and a well paid job while balancing that with a happy lifestyle, for me anyway im sure people deal with it all differently

don't give up on finding a job! if i can do it you can do it. you might try community college next semester. nothing wrong with community college. does your campus have a career and financial aid center? they might be able to hook you up with an on-campus job like working at the bookstore or something.
