i am going to new zealand and australia soon bringing with some propranolol and lexotanil prescribed by my doctor. he said they might ask me my pharmacist receipt and prescription at the airport as they are strict on medications. i am going with some friends and they dont know i have anxieties problems and i dont want them to know. if they ask me to show my prescription at the airport i fear that i will have to show and explain my meds in front of my friends. anyone knows if they really check these things in new zealand and australia? do i need to hide the meds?

I am bringing like 410mg of propranolol and 21pills of 1.5 lexotanil .. my pharmacist seems a bit worried that it's too much

if i put all my meds in my checked baggage (not bringing it with me).. there's less change they will check and ask for prescription right? should be fine right?

How long is the flight? Will you be taking any on route? You would be better of keeping it with you incase your checked baggage goes astray

i won't be taking any on route. Will be sleeping mostly in the flight i should be ok without the meds. There's a higher probability of getting checked if i have the meds on me than if it's in my checked baggage right?

i personally think it's better to put them in your checked baggage since chances are really high they'll have to ask for prescription if you carry them with you...they sometimes tell you to empty the content of your bag (if it's a purse or something)...but in any case they'll check. It's rare that they end up losing ur bags so don't worry about that. Also, if it were up to me I wouldn't risk having my friends find out and having to embarass oneself and explain afterwards...Good luck on your flight!

yup i don't care having problem with security as long as my friends don't find out... propranolol is used to treat high blood pressure (i can use that as an excuse in case they find out) but is lexotanil used for other illness?
