Hi

I'm Mysti 21/f/uk :) Suffered from panic attacks and agoraphobia for the past 12 years. Doc never diagnosed me as a social phobic, but after reading into the info on here and other sites, I'm beginning to wonder if that might explain some of my symptoms and not just me being a wimp as many people have suggested :(

Anyhoo if anyone wants to talk, drop me a line. Would be nice to chat to other people who know what it's like to live with anxiety :D

Where abouts this fine county are you from? [yes, slight sarcasm intended!]

Hi black mamba :D

I'm from Surrey. Guildford is probably the nearest city to me but I'm a tiny village gal, lots of fields and trees hehe

How about you? Which part are you from?

Ah so you are from a beautiful part of the country! Lucky you, I love greenery/the countryside atmosphere.

Funnily enough I'm also in Surrey yet I'm surrounded by cars, buildings and tarmac. [It's where Surrey meets London]. Although we have London's biggest park here so its somewhat Surrey-like...

So do you work/study Mysti?

In answer to your question mamba, I don't study or work at the moment. I was home schooled until I was 16 and have been at home ever since. I realised the other day has been 5 years... how depressing :(

Um past couple of years, just been trying to get out and about more. Also renovating the house (live with parents) so I guess that's kind of like a job :)

I am hoping to take a home study course in accountancy so have to wait and see how that turns out. Fortunately no end exams are required otherwise in my current state I would have no chance. Ah well, life certainly likes to set challenges

How about you?

Home school; that would've been a dream come true for me when I was a child. I don't think my parents appreciated my extreme fear of the concentrated social situation that is school and didn't allow for home schooling.

Luckily now I'm at uni and our campus is quite small. Everyone is so laid back and friendly (well most anyway) so its actually a pleasure to go to lectures. I study engineering. Like my dad always said; if you don't like working with people, maybe machines are you're thing. And they were. :)

So you're renovating a house - I take it you're happy with the onslaught of interior decorating/diy tv shows then? 8O

 actually mamba I don't watch tv all that often, but yeah do tune in now and again see if we can pick up any ideas. I've mostly been tiling floors and I think if I ever see another tile I may scream, unfortunately shower room is next on the agenda so best tell everyone to prepare for earplugs.

Homeschooling was good, unfortunately though the education board really begrudged me the 5 hours a week I eventually got.(I think they were hoping it would be a short term thing and would have dragged me into school by my ears if they could but I had a really excellent tutor who managed to keep it going for me :D) I started out with taking maths, english, science french and geography but the board got impatient and cut that down to 2 when one of my tutors quit and then withdrew it completely :x . They also made me drop french and geography plus due to lack of a science teacher, I had to attend a small teaching centre as best I could until GCSEs.

I always dreamt of going to uni when I was younger, can't envisage it now though maybe one day :)
I'm really pleased that you found such a good one where you feel comfortable and happy, that's really great :D

Is there a particular field of engineering that you're interested in?

Then I need your help, whenever my tv is switched on I cannot help but glue my eyes to it, no matter what's on! I always tend to get more done when I don't have a tv around to distract me but I don't want to throw it away as I fall behind on current affairs, help. 8O

With the engineering, I study mechanical (which as you can imagine is quite mixed) and I like the variety it brings. However, my dream would be to design rollercoasters and thrill rides. Scrap that, I'd be just as happy repairing them.

You seem like quite a practical person...do you enjoy any other more hands on hobbies? [Did you like the way I changed the subject, I could be a great tv presenter if I wasn't so shy]. 8)

Loved it! thought it was very professional, move over Gaby Roslin, mamba has entered the building

Mechanical engineering? wow! smart girlie! :D
*gasps* but rollercoasters? 8O hehe I take it you are a thrill seeker/theme park fan? I must confess I am too wimpy to even look at one. When I was 12 I went with my parents to Thorpe Park and rode Loggers Leap. Halfway up the climb to the top pf the hill I desperately wanted to get off  we were in a 'log' with two other people one of who I think was also scared. Anyway we all ended up singing 'row, row, row your boat' pathetic I know lol Does sound like it would be a fantastic job though :D

I know what you mean about tv, I used to watch it 24/7. I probably watch it more than I realise but then it's generally movies. My sis hires them quite often, sort of to make up for the fact I can't go out :) Oh and I always have a video on when I go to bed or I can't get to sleep :( . You're wise to keep up with the news though, I'm completely out of the loop, lol infact I'm lucky to remember what day it is most of the time. Thank goodness for day planners!

Um yeah I am quite a hands on person. Willing to give anything a go as far as d.i.y is concerned. Aside from that I like gardening, but prefer projects and design as I tend to stand twiddling my thumbs when it comes to planting. I would love to build a 2nd pond but they are so pricey will have to wait and save up for that. I also fix my dad's work computers when they go wrong although I find that can be quite frustrating at times.

Well then let me fill you in on what you've been missing out on, oh boy!

Firstly aliens landed in Wales and disguised themselves as sheep before bombing the Great Wall of China. Then Micheal Jackson become world president after scaring off these very aliens with his terrifying facial features. Then....

Am I fooling you yet? Probably not, I'll stop. 8O

You can buy ready made ponds and fountains now I hear, how tacky! hehe...you can fix computers? Wow, looks whos the clever one now. I hate the things, a swift kick to the case usually fixes anything. :D

Excellent! Thanks!!! :D

8O Seriously? wow now that you mention it I did see a flying saucer, hmm could have been the neighbour's spinning plate trick gone awry I guess
and disguised themselves as sheep
Ok now I know you're pulling my leg. Everyone knows that it's wolves that wear sheeps' clothing not Aliens  I guess I will have to start watching the news.
I think a stand up comic may be your calling in life... cheers that really made my day

Yeah must confess I'm not too keen on these preformed ponds myself plus they only seem to come in tiddly sizes. Shhh don't tell my parents but I was hoping to dig out a swimming pool and tell them I got my inches and centimetres mixed up. Hmm do you reckon they'll believe that cover?

lol does kicking the computer actually work? I've got a friend who swears he does the same but was sure he was kidding. I've certainly been temped to throw mine out of the window from time to time but I don't think insurance companies cover that, only falling pianos.
I'm not actually all that clever with them  the work computers have usually been run into the ground so reformatting the hard drive is the only option, just a case of wiping them and reloading the software and occasional upgrading. Not sure how people make a living out of it, they must have an awful lot of patience.

My partner's friend makes a lot of money just fixing people's pcs. Some folk are just clueless I guess, esp rich people, and will happily pay anything for him to fix their pecious machines.

but I was hoping to dig out a swimming pool and tell them I got my inches and centimetres mixed up. Hmm do you reckon they'll believe that cover?

If it worked for NASA, it'll work for you. They got their units mixed up once and it led to an entire space mission failing as a result!

Everyone knows that it's wolves that wear sheeps' clothing not Aliens

Oh yeah so they can eat the sheep. Aha! Me stoopid.

Omg! Talk about an expensive mistake. I certainly would not have liked to be the one to make that error for real. Ouch!

Oh and don't worry I'm sure it's not just wolves that wear sheep disguises to eat them really. There are probably alien eating sheep (or maybe that's sheep eating aliens?) out there too :D

Hmm I don't suppose you happen to know when the UK schools break up for summer do you? Keep hearing from people in the U.S their semesters finish sometime in the next week but didn't think it was until July over here. We have some neighbourhood kids who are fairly rowdy at times, I want to prepare myself for when they're likely to be around 24/7. Their footie playing leaves much to be desired, one of their recent games, where the ball shot over the fence ended up with one of my dogs bellyflopping into the pond

Hiya Mysti

There footy skills leave a lot to be desired??? they knocked your dog into the pond??? *cracks up with laughter* that sounds like a good shot to me.

Sorry I have a bad sence of humor, i shouldnt laugh really but the image of that happening cracked me up. Hope he/she was okay through :( .

Tried nailing there football with an airrifle that might deter them form doing it again
