Hi guys,

I put a new video up on my blog that you might find interesting. In this presentation, Harvard Psychologist Daniel Gilbert challenges the notion that we'll be miserable if we don't get what we want and proposes that our "psychological immune system" prevents this from happening. Crazy stuff.

And before you check it out, I have a quick question for you...

Do you think you'd be happier if you won the lottery or if you suddenly became a paraplegic? Tough question, I know.

Think real hard... and then go watch the video to find out if you're right.

Check it out here: http://jaycataldo.com/blog/2009/03/22/dan-gilbert-on-happiness/

If you'd like, I will be happy to take any money you have if it makes your life better :D

Hmm. Makes sense why people who get blind for example feel happy after a while, you hear them talk about how their other senses like hearing, touching become better, they are happy and Iam like yeaaa right lol

Funny though I been unhappy with my nose always, never liked it or got to be happy with it, but since knowing I got the option to have surgery whenever I have the money it doesn't bother me anymore that much. It's better now that I know I have a choice

Yea good video,

Yea good video,

Yes, happiness is relative. After getting a new car, you're not happy for the rest of your life, only the first few seconds. It's kind of depressing when you think about it.

Appearantly I've heard the sex is better and more intense if you are blind. Rumor has it that Stevie Wonder had an insatinable appetite for sex.

Yeah, cause when you're blind, every girl you sleep with "looks" like Angelina Jolie. ;)

Awesome video! I definitely recommend that everybody listen to that lecture.

I always felt privileged to not have a privileged childhood because I am way more satisfied with the little bit that I have now. If I had been given all kinds of options when I was younger (for material things) I would be miserable now, constantly trying to achieve more and more. Instead, I can be satisfied for awhile with the little bit that I have.

Quote from video- "When our ambition is unbounded, it leads us to lie, cheat, and steal..."
Reminds me of the cause of the current economic crisis in the US; the never-ending greed of people who know there is more and more money out there to be made. Makes people lose their conscience and stop at nothing to get what they want.
