Why did my hair stop growing?

Ok, my hair is like really thick and long, and so does my dad, but my mom has thin hair(they're hair is kind of shoulder length about the same.)But anyways, Like I would say it's past my shoulders almost to my breasts. I think this has been going on two years ago my hair stopped growing. I mean, when i was like really young, my hair had no problem growing, but the funny thing that happened during my younger years was that, my mother would always curl my hair without using some sort of protectant on it, i always took hot baths/showers, she would brush my hair with a paddle brush(even when my hair was wet), and yet it still grew. I don't get it. I thought that was the easiest way your hair could fall out and possible be short. But anyways, like i said this happened in 2010 where it stopped. I mean i know i did alot of damage to it back in 2010 because i used curling irons, flat irons on it (it was because i was interested in hair tutorials on youtube. I didn't really think of using a protectant on it.) But now that i've been taking alot good care of my hair now, and it wasn't as brittle as it used to be, it still isn't growing. I mean i really want my hair to grow longer and it's taking ages! I don't know if it's because my hair is too thick or what? Does anybody know why this is and how i can get my hair to grow longer and faster?

It could be a lack of vitamins and water, it still has damage, your stress, the water type in your house, your diet, the weather, products. Check to see if it still has damage first.

You can do many things to revitalize it but you have to know the problem. How long has it been since you trimmed your ends? I can go up to 6 months but I never go a whole year with out getting a trim. Cutting your hair does not make it grow but it can prevent damage.

I think its been a while since i trimmed it. I can't remember exactly. My parents know i want it long and waited for it to grow out.

my hair looks like a lions mane and grows like one...i have no idea why.

try not using reg shampoo,,i only wash mine in natural hand made soaps now that i purchace from soap makers..all kinds of scents to pick from, all natural ingrediants. then i condition it after washing (i have to)

also don't wash it everyday(unless of course you have to because you have a dirty job),,otherwise only wash it when it's dirty...

also try not to brush it and tear it all the time.many days i just tie mine up and spray some natural oil scents on it to keep it fresh smelling....

like i said,a lions mane.
