Lol I cant sing to save my life.. and I certainly wouldn't have the balls to post my singing.

I acknowledge your effort and courage

Thank you PugofCrydee! :) I'm not sure if I'll ever become a singer though. I don't know how to play any instrument, though I'm still learning how to play the guitar.

FriendlyShadow you are super inspirational! It takes a lot of courage to post yourself singing and great choice of songs, by the way (I love Foo Fighters). We should start a thread for people to come out of their comfort zone to start singing because whether you're good or bad, you're taking a step in the right direction. Sort of like a SPW karaoke of sorts lol.

Anyway, really excellent work :)

Thank You Sarah M! I'll admit, I wasn't too sure about posting that video on here, only because I didn't think I sounded all that great. I think my favorite Foo Fighters songs are Everlong, Aurora, and Breakout. What other bands do you like? I agree we should make a SPW karoake thread! I think it would be also good way to reduce social anxiety in people.

Everlong is my jam! I like a very wide variety of music ranging from 50's doo-op stuff to, metal, classical, opera, 90's alternative, 80's pop etc. The only genres I can't really get into are blue grass, country and most rap. Although in my youth, I was a huge rap fan lol. Anyway, how about you? What else do you like?

I think it would be fun to hear other people sing/possibly give a speaking intro. It would make me feel closer to the people on here - especially because most of us have been here for years.

I mainly listen to 90's alternative rock/ hard rock, britpop, electronic, downtempo, ect. There's just so many bands I love, Stone Temple Pilots, The Beach Boys, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Sheryl Crowe, Dandy Warhols, ect. There are some pop singers I used to like (Madonna for example), although I'm personally not really a fan of 80's music that much. A lot of people my age listen to Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, ect. I just can't really get into it. Same with techno, rap, hip hop, ect. They just never appealed to me. Although when I was really young, I actually did listen to a lot of that stuff.

It's funny because I actually don't know what made me like that stuff in the first place. I guess maybe because I was surrounded by people my age who listened to those genres. Maybe I was just too scared I wouldn't fit in if I had different music tastes than them. A lot of people I came across couldn't relate to my taste in music anyways. Oh well, you can't please everyone.

You listed some awesome bands! I feel similarly - no one can relate to my taste in music, so I often times feel self-conscious about it. Especially because I listen to metal (like, screaming metal). I think as you get older your tastes evolve and you get exposed to more types of music. I agree you can't please everyone and honestly, you really shouldn't try to. You are you and that's all that you can ever be. For me, music is like my lover - it's very personal, so eff everyone else haha.

Soooo.... I'm going to try to be brave for once in my life and post me singing. I'm doing it here so that I can later delete it.

Great job, Sarah. Seriously, you can tell your personality is awesome, too.

Best sounding cat gang-bang ever.

Thanks, Lily! I used my cell phone's recording feature to record myself singing and then uploaded it to Vacaroo :)

A few things first:
Things get a little awkward in the intro because I was kind of a nervous wreck - sorry about that.
I know my speaking/singing voice is a bit on the whiney/annoying octave range - sorry about that, again.
I got really into it towards the end and was kind of yelling so you probably want to lower your volume lol.
I can't believe I'm doing this...

You have an amazing voice! :) Sorry to hear about your thyroid though, that sounds horrible. It's hard for me to stay on pitch when I sing because my voice ends up becoming shaky and it tends to crack a bit. I think you have a much better singing voice.

Oh my gosh, you're far too kind! My voice isn't anything special, but I am thankful for the ability to sing since I used to not be able to. Hey, that's okay, having my thyroid removed was the best thing that's ever happened to me :)

I still think you did a fantastic job on your cover, FriendlyShadow :)

Meh... you're 'ok' I guess.... :idontknow:

Haha :giggle: Sarah you actually have an awesome voice!
After listening to you and Friendlyshadow I am definitely NOT even going to attempt my own...

I sound absolutely awesome at singing.. when I'm in my car, on my own, when no one else can hear me.. It's weird, sort of like 'invisible boy' from Mystery men.. He only goes invisible when no one else is looking..

:giggle: Seriously though, thank you. I know I'm not the best, but oh well *shrug*.

Umm, did you just reference Mystery Men?! Hell yes! *high five*

Even if you don't sing well, you still have an Australian accent which is kind of hot, sooo yeah :p

Just wanted to take some time to make this video. I apologize if you hear me stuttering throughout this video. Thanks for watching!

I really like that you made this video! I wish more people did these! Yeah, your voice isn't upbeat, but I actually find it to be super mellow and relaxing. Me, I sound like a hamster on crack lol. I didn't hear you stuttering or anything, by the way. Once again, I really admire your bravery :)
