Important! How to make your phobic life more pleasant

Hi people,

I decided to make this topic, because it's pretty important case, I think.

Do you also have that horrible feeling that your life is so empty, so inessential? That your actions are banal and it's boring, simply saying?
Or maybe only I or similar people have it, as some depression-prone?

I'd like to ask you, what do you do to make your life more pleasant? Have you any hobby which fills your life with the sense?

Do you do something interesting and what's it? I mean e.g. exchanging letters, stamps or banknotes with some others or collecting anything.

How do you substitute normal social events, normal social life?

And is it good substitution, do you feel it makes your life finer?

Let's tell about things you find interesting and - of course - available for the social phobics! Come on! Maybe there are some curious things, worth knowing.

Cheers for all of you! :)

The one thing that's kept me going throughout everything is my vast number of hobbies. I love books, music, films, video games, photography, art, history, geography, cosmology, metaphysics, fantasy... man, I could go on all day. These are all things I actively engage in too. So while it's easy for people like me to think life is empty and that the days are going by way too slowly, I'm able to really amuse myself to the point where I sometimes feel like I don't have enough hours in the day. In some respects it's kind of replaced a need for friends. Not that I wouldn't like to be sociable at times, but I do really enjoy immersing myself in my interests.

The only thing that has keept me going is riding(BMX). Its like skateboarding in a sence but different from skateboarding because there are so maney skateboarders. With BMX theres only like 10 people who actually ride where i live and we are allways in small groups so i found it easier to get to know people, even though it still took a long time. I get very low grades in school and im like a ghost in my school so right now it feels like the only thing i have going for me is my bike.

Oh, you're happy to have so multilateral hobbies and interests, Kinetik... I used to have similarly wide interest in my childhood, although later I've lost them. Maybe it's some kind of disthymia? I don't know. I've been in moderate depression recently for a few months, but fortunately - I think and believe so - it's getting better now. Maybe I'll get some interests back, maybe I'll get some new... I hope so...

Oh, riding you say, 4seasons - yes, I also like riding. But rather then, when there're not many people on the road... the early morning is a good time especially in summer... and I definitely prefer riding individually...

Cheers!

i'm going to say most of the stuff the others said, but i'd like to say that i think its crucial you stay as active as possible. putting yourself in these situations will help you to deal and meet new people. life gets very down when you spend a lot of time with yourself not knowing what do during the day. keeping busy made me much happier.

my hobbies
vol. fire dept
vol. rescue squad
work at a pharmacy as often as possible

love was something that really kept me going. however, its not always permanent. there becomes a time where you rely to heavy on it and it takes over, when it ends you are left a mess because that was all you had. i was in that situation and it was awful after, just had nothing. i took days off from work while the solution looking back was to work more and simply get your mind off it.

that's pretty much what i was going to say, almost verbatim!

well, my hobbies aren't exactly the same, but otherwise, that's basically how i feel at the moment

it's easy to curse aspects of my social anxiety, but i actually feel kind of lucky to be able to enjoy my own company like i do

i seldom feel bored or depressed when i'm on my own, although living in a house with uni mates (2 or 3 of which i got on well with) last year was definitely more fun than being back at home with my parents which is where i am right now

Really? Interesting, considering the social phobia at you...

Hm, I've thought about a suggestion to somebody who can do it - what about sticking this topic? It relates to quite important thing, which I've anyway written in the subject.

We all could add our own ideas and ways for it, and many people could then know more about it...

Cheers! :)

i guess, lol

not to say it was perfect by any means, but i do enjoy social interaction with people i feel comfortable around & share similar interests with (which isn't all that many in truth, hence why i enjoyed uni)

anyway, i'm sure my social phobia isn't as severe as it is for others, but i still believe it exists to some degree

Ale by były jaja, jakby gościu/gościówa znał(-a) polski - nie byłoby Ci wstyd, dziecino? :?:

Out of it, this forum is not only for the SA-ers, but there's also some forum "Shyness Forum". Only shyness not social phobia. If it's necessary, i can translate it into Polish for you, as I'm not so sure if you could manage it. :p
Cheers, baby!

P.S.Jeszcze jedno - dlaczego wszystkich wyzywasz od "gnid" i "ćmoków"? Takie szablonowe obelgi nie dodają twym wypowiedziom blasku, nie uważasz?
